Rob came to DOT post THA 3 weeks ago. He has been working with Dr. Casey to regain hip strength and hip ROM to return back his active lifestyle! Robert heads back to Nantucket Massachusetts for the duration of summer but has made excellent progress over the past few weeks. He states he feels excited to be back to his normal-self soon!

Meet Brenda! She is a grandmother who originally came to DOT to work on her balance and right leg weakness. One of her primary goals was to be able to climb steps, and she was finally able to achieve that goal this week! Additionally, she has been able to achieve her goal of being able to get in and out of the car without having to manually lift her right leg into the car. She still has progress to make, but we love getting to celebrate our patients milestones on their route to recovery!

Meet Ken! He came to DOT with reports of calf weakness which was affecting his ability to work as a roofer, keep up with his workout routine, and even complete a full walking step without the sensation of his ankle giving out. He worked with Dr. Bailee at DOT for a few months in hopes of fully resolving this issue. His appointments started with being guided through very simple movements which he found very challenging and by the end of his journey he was doing squat jumps, single leg lunges, and back to his Peloton routine. More importantly he could walk without any compensations and navigate walking on roofs and ladders - which was very important as he owns a roofing company!

Great job Ken! You were so fun to work with and your hard work is inspiring.

Meet Sharon!

She came to DOT following our balance workshop. She has been working with Dr. Casey for several months now to improve her endurance, strength and decrease her risk of falls. Sharon states she has started to return to walking for exercise with improved confidence and balance.  She returns back home to Wisconsin next week where she will continue with her exercises and PT to keep up her amazing progress.

Meet Marvin!

He came to DOT after a fall resulting in a head wound as well as a long history of knee pain. He has been working with Dr. Terry for several months and has shown great improvements. Recently he has returned to sailing and walking 3 days per week. Marvin say’s that he now feels much more confident with his balance that has helped greatly with his daily and recreational activities. Great job Marvin! Keep up the hard work.

Meet Mark!

He is a pickleball player that has been attending PT with Dr. Sydney for his shoulder. His shoulder mobility has improved significantly with therapy, and he is now able to get his arm in/out of a jacket sleeve without pain. Additionally, he has been able to return to his previous sporting activities, such as pickleball, golf, and bowling.

Meet Jenny!

She has been working with Dr. Camy since her knee surgery and is now able to walk pain-free without an assistive device. She is also able to bend over easier and is working toward her goal of being able to get on and off the floor to play with her grandchildren.

Meet Joan!
She had chronic neck and shoulder pain which led to inability to engage in her favorite outdoor activities. Over the last couple of months she has been able to reintroduce kayaking, surf fishing, and her favorite exercise routines and workouts. She is now able to paddle for up to an hour without pain! She is becoming increasingly independent with her home exercises to manage her symptoms on her own. Joan is very determined and will continue to improve as she keeps putting in the work!

Meet Larry! He is 87 yo old and has been working hard on improving his strength and balance with the help of Dr. Sydney at DOT. His overall safety has improved, and he has been able to walk/stand without reliance on his cane.

Mr. Jeff came to DOT due to hip flexor pain. He continued to feel “off” and a large pull during movement. He worked with Dr. Casey over the course of 12 weeks in order to decrease his pain and improve his overall hip strength needed for return to pickleball. Mr. Jeff now states he has been able to return to the courts symptom free!

Ms. Kathy came to DOT following hip pain that started with her running, hiking and yoga. The pain prevented her from participating in her weekly yoga classes and daily walks with her dog. After several months working with Dr. Terry, she is no longer having hip pain and has returned to walking her dog as well as her weekly yoga classes. She is excited and ready for her upcoming vacation overseas as well as returning to hiking and running.

Meet Janie! She is a bubbly beach lover that came to our clinic to address issues with vertigo and balance. We were able to eliminate her vertigo almost completely, and with Janie’s hard work she has also been able to improve her balance and strength significantly. This has allowed her to return to traveling on the weekends, walking on the beach, and feeling safer while performing yardwork. Seeing a reduction in her knee and back pain was an extra bonus!

Thank you to all of our partners, patients, friends, and family for coming out to spend a beautiful evening with us! We couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of this community who turns out so strong to do GOOD.

We are still totaling our full amount that was raised for V For Victory, but we are blown away with everybody’s generosity!

OUR WHY!

Helping people in our community is what started this venture FOUR years ago. Tonight, it is no different. Come celebrate with us and help raise money for these local families who are currently battling cancer. We can’t wait to see you!

Meet Nancy! She underwent a total knee replacement a few weeks ago and has since been working with DOT therapist Todd out of her home. She notes that over the last few weeks, her pain has gotten better, she is able to walk around, and is finally able to go out to eat with her grandchildren!

Through February and March, leading up to our open house event on March 21st, we will be highlighting local families that are being supported by V For Victory.

V For Victory is a Jacksonville charity that donates all funds to help support local families struggling with cancer in any way they can. By coming to our event, donating to the cause, or supporting the local vendors who will be at our open house, you are in turn helping these families!

Meet Don!

He came to one of our free fall and balance workshops to learn more about what he can do to prevent falls. One of his main concerns was also being able to safely get on and off the floor. He has been working with Dr. Terry ever since to improve balance, strength, and eventually they got to practicing floor transfers. He graduated DOT this week and was very excited to announce he can get on and off the floor with no problem!! 👏👏

*DOT SUCCESS STORY*

Meet Jackie! She came to DOT with reports of chronic low back pain, neck pain, and daily migraines. She notes she had tried multiple approaches to treating her migraines without any success. She worked with Dr. Bailee over a course of 12 weeks and went from having migraines daily, to only 1-2 a month. Right before graduating from DOT, she was working on her farm and injured her shoulder. She went from working full time on her farm to barely being able to lift her arm. She continued coming to DOT and graduated last week! She is back to doing all the work on her farm including pulling weeds, planting crops, and taking care of all of her animals. 🐷🐐🐓

SOMETHING EXCITING IS COMING!!

In honor of Direct Orthopedic Therapy celebrating 4 years of business and 2 years at our Jacksonville Beach location, we are hosting an open house to bring together local health and wellness businesses, local vendors, friends, families, and our wonderful patients!

As part of this event, we have teamed up with local charity, V For Victory, which raises money for families in our Jacksonville area who are battling and fighting the fight with cancer.

Over the next 6 weeks, we will be working to raise money for this good cause and will have vendors raffling off services and products at our open house event on March 21st.

As part of our fundraising efforts, our team of good spirited physical therapists have agreed to a “Pie in the Face” competition. So, come on into the clinic and put your cash and coins in the jar of the therapist you want to see get pied at our open house!
