The Bertoia Diamond Chair is an astounding study in space, form and function by one of the master sculptors of the last century. It’s light and airy frame fashioned from glittering industrial steel inspired us to get out and soak up some sun this afternoon. A special thanks to our friends at Quady North for adding to the summertime inspiration with their always delicious Pistoleta.

We are so grateful to be a part of the all new Dining Hall at Skylake’s Medical Center. Furniture installed earlier this week!

April showers, bring May flowers or in this case, the Petal Table and the Tulip Chair! 🌷🌼🌸 Both collections are Knoll products and bring a unique and beautiful design inspired by one of nature's most beautiful creations, flowers! The Petal table was introduced in 1960 and was inspired by Queen's Anne’s lace. Each petal is independently mounted to the support, which is not only visually beautiful, but it allows the table to expand and contract with the weather. The Petal collection is offered as a table, coffee table, or side table. The Tulip collection was introduced in 1957 and its simple yet sleek design, made from fiberglass-reinforced resin, resolved the "ugly, confusing, unrestful world" underneath chairs and tables. Both collections are some of our favorite! Happy May!! 💐

In honor of Earth Day, we wanted to highlight Herman Miller and Knoll for their amazing sustainability practices!!

Florence Knoll, born in 1917, was a force of nature in the furniture design space and has stood the test of time, paving the way for not only women but men as well. Orphaned at age twelve and growing up in Michigan, she grew an interest in architecture and design. She later enrolled at Cranbrook Academy of Art where the fundamentals of her incredible design education pioneered her impressive career. Using her drawing background, she introduced space planning and comprehensive design to office planning. She did not merely decorate a space, she created it. “I designed the architectural [elements] that were needed to make the room work, things like the walls [tables] and sofas.”

The Platner Collection was designed in 1966 by architect Warren Platner, who intended it to be gold-plated. However, the technology of the time made gold plating in large-scale production impossible, leading to the nickel-plated steel known today. The 2015 issue of Platner Gold fulfills Platner’s original wish.

We all love our three day weekend at the end of the summer, however not everyone knows why we celebrate Labor Day each year. Labor Day was created to recognize the social and economic achievements of American Workers - and to give them a much deserved break. The holiday was actually first adopted into law by the State of Oregon in 1887 before it became a Federal Holiday. This Labor Day we are proud (as always) to be Oregonians, and to recognize everyones hard work. Happy Labor Day!
