We hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend and that our players and teachers who went back to class today have a great school year!

This first week of school will be followed by the first weekend of games for some of our teams and we can't wait for kickoffs! ⚽️

⚽️✅ Soccer Fact Sunday: Offsides is one of, if not the most common type of foul in soccer. Even though this is the case, it's still sometimes one of the most confusing rules of the game. So, when is a player offsides?

A player is offsides if he/she is closer to the goal than the defending team's second to last defender (typically, the goalie is considered the last defender) when the ball is played to them.

There are a few times when offsides doesn't apply:
1. The ball is being played from a goal kick, corner kick, or throw-in.
2. If you are in an offsides position, but do not touch the ball or affect the play.
3. You and a teammate are both past the second to last defender, and the ball is being played backwards to you from your teammate during an attack.

Our next Club event is coming up! ⚽️🔥

The Chicago Fire will be playing Nashville SC in their last regular season game on Saturday, October 19 and Rock SC Rush is invited. Discounted tickets in Section 151 can be found at fevo-enterprise.com/event/rockscrush. Our goal is to sell 100 tickets to this event.

Kickoff will be at 5pm at Soldier Field in downtown Chicago. More details to come as the night gets closer. We’re excited to be able to offer this opportunity to our RSCR community!

The Craig Boys home openers have been moved to Thursday, August 29th due to Tuesday’s forecasted weather. Free admission on Thursday for all.

Before the varsity game at 7pm, Coaches Garrett and Bill McCabe will be speaking about the amazing man that Coach Duan Damron was. The boys will be participating in a moment of silence before kicking off wearing black armbands.

It was an honor to know Coach Damron and to have him as a part of our community. Soccer was changed for the better in Janesville, largely due to him. He will be missed dearly.

Ryan’s first college game for tonight (8/26) was cancelled due to the heat. The next game will be on Saturday, August 31st.

We still have open spots for 2013/2014 boys to play this fall. These 11U/12U teams are considered Tier 4, meaning they are recreational level and more based on enjoying the game while learning vs committing to a super competitive or skilled team. MAYSA, the organization we play within, will try to schedule these teams with other teams at the same level.

Special Announcement 📣‼️

Rock SC Rush will be hosting our first ever Homecoming Week! At practices during the week, teams will have spirit competitions, just like in high school. Festive Friday will follow with activities, pickup games, popsicles, and more.

The week will culminate on Sunday, September 29th when all RSCR teams will have a home game on the same day.

On Sunday, there will be concessions (including local favorites like at Clash) and challenges, such as a juggling competition, kick speed competition, and a shootout gauntlet. Older teams will "adopt" a younger team and the teams will reciprocate attending and cheering at the other's game.

Tomorrow night is our last 9U-10U scrimmage of the summer. It’s been a fun 5 weeks preparing for fall!

As a reminder, all RSCR kids born between 2014-2016 are invited to this last game in order to get touches in before the season starts this month.

Our VP, Ryan Booth, will begin reffing at the collegiate level this month. Starting out locally, he worked his way up and will now be in Rockford on Monday, August 26th as an assistant referee for the Rock Valley vs Harper game. Congratulations on your accomplishment, Ryan! If anyone is interested in going to that game to support and watch, the details are in this post.

Ryan is also a state instructor and mentor for new referees. He is willing to help out and support anyone from Rock SC Rush who wants to take the new referee course. If you or your player want to become a ref, reach out to Ryan and/or sign up for the course at MAYSA.org/referee-courses

We still have open spots in our 6U-8U In House Recreational Program for Fall 2024. If you have or know any kids born in 2017, 2018, or 2019 that want to try soccer, this is a great opportunity to welcome them to the sport. ⚽️ Sign Up Process:
- We have switched from Demosphere to PlayMetrics for our registration system. All parents will need to create a new PlayMetrics account to be able to register your children for the upcoming seasons.
- Once you have made an account, you must add your player(s) to the account.
- Once your player(s) are added, the program will become visible for sign up and payment if your player(s) were born between 2019 and 2021.
- The registration link can be found at the end of this post.
- Once the capacity is met, a waitlist will open up.

❓ FAQ:
- The registration fee for Little Kickers is $25. A t-shirt is included in this cost.
- The program will run for 6 weeks on Wednesday nights starting after Labor Day. The exact start date will be announced soon.
- Please bring a size 3 soccer ball. Write your last name and phone number on the ball.
- Have your child in athletic shoes or cleats. Shin guards can be worn for older players.
- Bring water bottles – getting water is a key activity at this age!
- Please consider volunteering as a coach. There are a lot of kids in these sessions. Practice plans are provided and no prior experience is required!
