November is National Gratitude Month. What are you grateful for?
PCSD's Clean School Spotlight goes to Pickens Junior High! We are proud of these fantastic students for helping to keep PJHS clean! During each of the three lunches, a group of young men help to clean the cafeteria by taking the garbage cans out when full, sweeping, cleaning tables, and whatever they are asked to do and they do it with a smile. Way to go Dragons!
PCSD wishes all of the ghouls and goblins out there a very happy halloween!
Remember that Pickens County Schools will be holding virtual classes on November 5th for Election Day.
Did you know that you have access to the "See Something, Send Something" digital reporting app? “See Something, Send Something” provides a platform to capture a photo of suspicious activity or send in information with written text. Information received in the app is sent directly to the Georgia Information Sharing and Analysis Center (GISAC) where the tips can be evaluated and provided to law enforcement across the state as needed. The application is available at no cost for iPhone and Android phone users, as well as iPad users.
Sheriff Donnie Craig, Chief Deputy Jeff Hall, and Communications/Safety Specialist Jennifer Wilson represented Pickens County School District at a School Safety Roundtable hosted by Senate Majority Leader Steve Gooch last week where leaders discussed school safety planning and adolescent mental health and well-being.
Join our schools as we celebrate Red Ribbon Week - a week that highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. Let's spread the message that prevention works and that we can make a difference in our communities.
Today is National First Responders Day. PCSD would like to thank you all for your service to our schools and community.
PCSD would like to thank Chief Deputy Hall with Pickens County Sheriff’s Office for his assistance with part of PCSD's annual safety training and for spending a full day in each of our schools, and with District staff, reviewing lockdown and active intruder procedures and answering any questions that they had.
