Love God. Love People. Make disciples of Jesus.
As we rightly celebrate Roe vs. Wade being overturned, it's time for the Church to care for women. Find a pregnancy resource or advocacy center to serve and financially support! Pray for God to continue to remind our country of the sanctity of life and that Jesus came to die for it. Pray for the women this affects and that the Church would open their doors, homes, and wallets to help raise these children.
The renovations are going great! Carroll Daniel is doing an incredible job and it's moving quicker than we all thought. Can't wait to see you Sunday! We had to pull out chairs for the 11am, so if you can... make that shift to the 10am for the summer to create space! See you Sunday... final week of Jonah.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!" Psalm 127:3-5
Moms, thank you for everything you do to love the Lord and serve & lead our families! We can't wait to celebrate you and praise God for the amazing blessing that all of you are. Join us in celebrating moms, child dedication, and worshipping our God this weekend! See you at the 9 or 11am First Baptist!
NEW SERIES: Family Discipleship, starting this Sunday!
Families are immeasurably valuable. When it comes to families, sometimes you get to enjoy it and sometimes you have to endure it. It is wonderful and unpredictable. It is the most fun, upsetting, messy, beautiful, disappointing, and encouraging function of this world. Raising kids is an endlessly challenging adventure, and it comes with a never-ending list of responsibilities. One of the greatest of those responsibilities is the call to all parents and families to be disciple-makers in their own homes. A disciple-maker is a follower of Christ helping others follow Christ. In our series: FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP, we are going to talk through:
- Forgiveness in a family
- Parenting as discipleship
- Marriage for the Glory of God
- Grand-Parenting as discipleship
- Celebrating Mothers
We will do all of this by walking through Ephesians 4-6
See you this Sunday!

Biblical literacy is one of our primary goals for our church body here at First Baptist Jefferson. The scriptures are not to be read only on Sunday morning. We want to immerse ourselves in God's word daily! We have created a reading plan as part of our INSTEAD OF ME series leading up to Easter. In "Instead of Me," we look at the events leading up to the crucifixion and see how through these events, the human race is really the one on trial. We should see ourselves in these stories, and we’ll learn why Jesus came and had to do what he did, INSTEAD OF ME.
9 But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3 Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. 4 And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” 5 And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 6 But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.” 7 The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one. 8 Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. 9 And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
10 Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” 11 And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying, 12 and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.” 13 But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem. 14 And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.” 17 So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; 19 and taking food, he was strengthened.

Church Family,
I hope you get some time to watch the teaching today, but make sure to get some time to enjoy the snow! Share a picture of your family outside enjoying it in the comments below! Here's one of my kiddos. Have a great day from my family to yours! - Pastor Sean
Jefferson First Baptist Church,
If you’ve been paying attention to the weather forecasts (or the shelves at Kroger), you know that north Georgia is forecasted to have snow and ice early Sunday morning. After some lengthy conversations with some of your deacons, we have reluctantly agreed that the wisest decision for us as a church is to cancel Sunday Services for January 16th due to inclement weather. I say “reluctantly” because it’s never our preference to close the doors of God’s place of worship. However, we know that this church would drive through twenty-feet of snow to glorify God together (I LOVE THAT ABOUT THIS CHURCH!), but we simply don’t want anyone taking risks on the road if this weather does in fact come upon us. The difficulty of this decision lies of course in the possibility that this amounts to nothing and the weather misses us, which of course we will look like we have eggs on our face in this decision. However, the words of Paul in Ephesians reminds us, “Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” We simply want to error on the side of caution in this situation.
So, while we will be canceling Sunday Services this Sunday, we will be making the most of every opportunity as Paul says. I (Pastor Sean) will be recording a brief teaching for us to watch online. I’ll reserve what would have been this Sunday’s teaching on “How do I actually pray” to next week. I believe it’s too important of a message for us to simply put online.
So again church, with a heavy heart we will be pushing back what would have been this week’s experience to next Sunday. I would also like to mention that with no pressing or urgent matters to attend to for Sundays Deacon’s meeting, we will be pushing that back to the 23rd as well.
We love you, and can’t wait to see you next Sunday, January 23rd.
In Christ,
Pastor Sean & The Deacons
