It was a WONDERFUL Birthday Week!
👑🏎️4 nights at the Appalachian Fair (Mon/Tues at pageants, Fri/Sat at the Demolition Derby).
⭐️Thursday morning JaeceeRae & I worked at the Aldi Grand Opening in Boones Creek, TN, with their Promo Team handing out gift cards & totes full of free food.
⭐️Thursday evening was my birthday dinner & games at Tiebreaker’s with my hubby & kiddos who spoiled me with gifts, a Blackbird Bakery pink almond cake! I truly loved watching our adult-kids play video games (makes my Momma heart smile 😊).
🏎️Friday night we watched the small engine Demolition Derby and I ate a dozen chocolate covered strawberries (my favorite food)!🍓🍫
👑Saturday morning I traveled to Miss Duffield Days at Natural Tunnel State Park, VA with Queen's Crown Box Stage Gifts for contestants.
Later that evening, I made it to the Demolition Derby in Gray, TN, in time to watch Boo Fugate drive his pink ‘Crown Victoria’ sponsored by: Queen’s Crown Box!

Do you hold the door open for other people?

In the last several weeks, I have had several opportunities where I have held open a door for someone at stores/post office/restaurant, etc.
Secretly, I wanted to see if they acknowledged my act of kindness with a simple smile or a verbal ‘thank you’.
More than half of those times I received no acknowledgment whatsoever. Most also avoided eye contact, even after hearing me say ‘go ahead’ and wearing a smile. 😊 

Today, I tried something a little different. I purposely waited for a precise moment/opportunity to enter a store at 4 different locations just to see what would happen.
3 people let themselves in, leaving the door to fall on me without even acknowledging my presence.
1 allowed his wife to go in 1st and then opened the door even wider so I could enter before he did.
This man was in his 70’s.

As I assess my ‘experiment’, I realize that the 3 other people I encountered today were all under the age of 30ish.

So now I welcome your comments.

1.Do you hold doors open for people if you arrive at the same time?

2.Do you open the door if they have packages in their hands or their hands are full only?

3. Do you open doors as a courtesy always? If so, why?

4. If someone opens the door for you, do you acknowledge them?

Today begins a new era for my husband and I, as we say goodbye to Johnny Brusco’s New York Style Pizza Kingsport, TN location.
I’ll never forget that day he came to me and said ‘Hey, honey, I think I’m going to buy a restaurant.’ I said: ‘Ok, I’ll help run it, let’s do this!’ Because that’s what we do, support each others dreams and ambitions together for over 30+ years. 💕

As owners, we have worked very hard (smiles/sweat/tears/stress and all🥹) in to rebuilding the restaurant the last 2.5 years.
We want to Thank EVERYONE who has supported us by coming to enjoy a meal with us, YOU made it all worth while!!! 🍕🍝
We will truly miss our wonderful customers, our regulars (basically like an episode of Cheers) & staff whom several have become like family. 😘

We ask that you continue to support the new owners who also own the Bristol, Johnson City, and Piney Flats Johnny Brusco’s locations. We wish them continued success!
