HERE’S THE SCOOP: OUR YOUTH ARE GOING TO NIAGARA FALLS TO HELP OTHERS!
The FBCDSM youth group wrapped up its successful Wednesday night dessert fundraiser on May 10, selling cupcakes and ice cream. They have been dishing out a variety of desserts at Wednesday night activities this spring to to help finance their mission trip to Niagara Falls later this summer. More than 50 people were at the May 10 dinner. A great time was had by all!

“Dreams & Schemes” is a free Vacation Bible School from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 19-22 at St. James Lutheran Church, 5665 Merle Hay Road in Johnston. The school is for pre-K (age 4) through the 5th grade.

The theme is about the amazing Old Testament character, Joseph, whose dreams as a boy got him into trouble and whose interpretations of dreams as an adult catapulted him into a leadership position to save people from a famine.

The VBS is hosted by three churches in Johnston: First Baptist, St. Paul Presbyterian, and St. James Lutheran.

FIRST BAPTIST WOMEN MAKE BIRTHING KITS FOR MOTHERS IN THE CONGO!

Lydia Circle, a group of First Baptist women who meet for Christian fellowship, recently made 16 birthing kits that will be sent to the Democratic Republic of Congo in central Africa. Each kit contains a receiving blanket, a newborn cap and gown, and a plastic sheet. These items promote a safe, clean delivery and encourage good aftercare.

The service project was carried out by Lydia Circle in partnership with the White Cross and International Ministries of the American Baptist Women Ministry.

First Baptist Church has three circles: Lydia, Martha and Ruth. These groups offer women a community of friends within the church. Their monthly meetings include Bible study and devotions, service projects, fellowship, and refreshments.
