For 46 years, The Greater Juneau Chamber of Commerce has been honoring outstanding individuals with the “Citizen of the Year” award. This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the community over the past year. The tradition began in 1977 with Dr. Henry Akiyama as the first recipient. Since then, 53 more pillars of the community have been honored for their dedication and service. Last year, the 2023 recipient was Letica McRae from Community Clean-Up, recognized for her unwavering dedication to cleaning our community over recent years.

Southeast Conference conducts an annual Southeast Alaska Business Climate Survey. A total of 440 Southeast Alaska business owners and top managers, representing a combined staff of 11,000 workers, responded to the survey in April 2024. Meilani Schijvens will present the study findings, with Juneau breakouts. Robert Venables will provide project updates from Southeast Conference.

Board president Laura McDonnell joined other business leaders this week for the Alaska Chamber’s community outreach trip to Kodiak.
