🌱The beautiful A’ali’i plant thrives because of its incredibly flexible nature. But it remains upright due to the deep taproot that grows strong beneath the surface.
🌋This plant is known to grow and even thrive in the most challenging environments. She pushes through the harsh grounds of barren lava fields, that provide little water and shelter.
⛰️This strong woody shrub, can grow in various climate zones ranging from sea level, all the way up to 8000 feet elevation. Few plants can live in the harsh winds and conditions along the slopes our sacred mauna. And yet the A’ali’i stands tall in her beauty even on the slopes of Maunakea.
🪷Her beautiful seedpod flowers, bloom with diverse shades of yellows, greens, pink and even red. These elegant flowers are sought after by lei makers, for its regal beauty, reflecting its very own name A’ali’i (of royalty or chiefly status).
🔨Every part of this plant has use from house building, dye making, weapons, tools, and even medicine.

🍃In nature we often see the plants that endure the harshest environments, often produce the strongest medicine, and the some of the most diverse purpose.

✨When you find yourself in challenging environments, be like the A’ali’i. Allow your roots to grow deep and stand tall. When the winds of opposition push you over, be flexible and resilient. And when it’s time to bloom, let your pain transform into regal beauty. You can thrive no matter where you are. And your adversity will bring you great wisdom and purpose that this world needs.

This 'olelo no'eau in the context of healing, shares another perspective. Sometimes the only way to fully move forward into our healing and breakthrough, is by addressing hurt and pain we may carry from out past, and coming to the place of forgiveness. Ho'oponopno (forgiveness & reconciliation) is a key that unlocks our future and heals our past.

Honoring two deeply respected kanaka, two legends that blessed our lāhui with the gifts of healing, and the 'ike of aloha 'Āina on so many levels. Dr. Noa Emmett Aluli & Dr. & Kumu Dane Kohelani have both crossed over to the next realm. My deepest condolences and my prayers are with their 'ohana.

On Nov. 28th 1843, 179 years ago on this day, Kamehameha III declared November 28, Lā Kū'oko'a Hawaiian Independence day. On this day in the court of London, a formal recognition and joint document was signed by our international peers, the United Kingdom & Kingdom of France. These acts of acknowledgement secured international acknowledgement, that the Kingdom of Hawai'i was indeed an independent and sovereign nation! The US followed suite months later.

And on that very day November 28, 1843 Maunaloa erupted! There is something very significant about what's happening right now! Ke Akua is speaking, don't miss what is being said! I pray we all stay focused on the voice of God, I pray we remain United even in the midst of our difference, and I pray that we remember what our EA is!

Aloha family! I'm calling on every prayer warrior that I know! Asking for your prayers over these three young ones Leyla (19), Deniz (17), Miya (14). They lost there dad a few years ago, and tragically lost their beautiful mom, Bianca to cancer on July 4th of this year.

No child should every have to experience the tragic pain of loosing a parent, let alone both parents. There are a lot of unknowns as family and friends are navigating how to step in. There are overwhelming amount of medical bills, and questions, and confusion left for these young teens to sort out. The greatest weight has fallen on the eldest daughter, Leyla, who she herself is only 19.

As a community we are all called to protect and to care for all children, all elders, and anyone who is vulnerable or in need. As we close off March, I wanted to end by celebrating women's history month!

✨Mahalo for those who joined tonight's Lomilomi class ! Tonight we honored many of our beloved kumu who have gone before us, paving the way! We began class honoring one of the greats, Kumu of Ho'oponopno, Aunty Malia Craver. A woman who has taught us all the art of forgiveness, through finding aloha within, to create the atmosphere of healing around us.

✨We ended class sharing quotes and stories of Aunty Margaret Machado, Kumu of Lomilomi, and master of aloha! Aunty Margaret taught us that when we genuinely have love in our hearts, it can be felt through our hands. She opened her home and heart to all those who were called, & taught each one how to be conduits of Aloha ke Akua l.

✨These women have helped to carve,shape, inspire, and breathe life into the foundation of Hawaiian healing! I am forever grateful for these Mana Wahine. Mahalo piha to all women out there inspiring with your aloha, & lifting up one another along the way!
