Meet Jason, our talented Corporate Chef at Ocean Prime who has been with our team for over 20 years. His passion for working with people and food began at an early age from watching his Italian grandparents cook everything from scratch. ⁠

To this day, he is inspired by the world around him and believes there are always places to draw inspiration from when you look for it. Sometimes it is as simple as an amazing ingredient that you want to use in a dish and that is where the process starts. ⁠

His current favorite dishes are the Steak Tartare and Hamachi Crudo because they both highlight the protein in their raw forms and allow their true flavors to shine. His go-to cocktail is the Hot and Dirty Martini with its saltiness and silky olive oil wash. Next time you are at one of our locations, be sure to try one of Chef Jason's favorites.

In honor of National Culinary Arts Month, we would like to introduce our Executive Chef Julio Juarez!

Coming from his hometown of Oaxaca, Mexico, Julio Juarez joined the Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR) team in Kansas City in 2021 at Prime Social Rooftop, where he was later promoted to Executive Chef. In 2023, Julio moved to Ocean Prime and leads the culinary team as Executive Chef.

Julio accredits his passion for the culinary arts and his initial interest in the restaurant and hospitality industry to the time spent cooking with his grandmother.

At CMR, Julio’s favorite aspect is the culture of putting associates first. His favorite CMR dish is the Teriyaki Salmon from Ocean Prime. If he could offer any advice to those pursuing a career in the restaurant industry, it would be to take each failure as an opportunity to learn.

Outside of the workplace, Julio enjoys trying out new restaurants with his two daughters, traveling, and attending Kansas City sports games!

This month’s spotlight goes to the well deserved team member, Solbella! She welcomes everyone through the front door at our Guest Services Center with a smile. She is loved by many of our guests & associates and represents our CMR culture beautifully!

We are also celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month and asked Solbella what Hispanic Heritage means to her. She said family is the most important part of her life. The traditions and values are very meaningful to Hispanic culture. She also teaches her children the language, culture, and traditions she was taught while living in Venezuela. We also asked what her favorite traditional Latin dish is and she said she loves Hallacas, a traditional Christmas food from her country!
