👏 Congrats to Jennifer McNiel, MSN, BSN’08, RN, CPHQ, recipient of the Early Career Achievement in Nursing Alumna Award.
Jennifer began her career as a clinical nurse in a medical intensive care unit at the The University of Kansas Health System, then transitioned to become a unit educator in the ICU. She then began working in quality and safety, where she was first exposed to writing on the Magnet Program team. This work led her to site visit work and ultimately, the position she holds today as Director of Nursing Excellence and Magnet Program. “Jennifer’s leadership, influence, and collaborative efforts have significantly impacted the high standards of nursing practice and benchmarks for excellence within our health system.”

👏 Congratulations to Lauren Ptomey, PhD’13, MS’11, recipient of the Early Career Achievement in Health Professions Alumna award.
When Dr. Lauren Ptomey entered the field of dietetics and nutrition, there was very little research on how people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) could improve their overall health and well-being. She’s dedicated her career to changing that fact and helping individuals with IDD live longer, happier lives.
