We have burial sites available for purchase and we remain one of the most affordable cemeteries in the area. We also have our new scattering garden for the disposition of ashes. Let us know how we can be of service.
Many folks have been inquiring about the new ADA restroom that we are having built at the Armour Chapel. Construction was slowed by city permit requirements, but we finally have the foundation poured and hopefully framing will begin this week! Stay tuned for more progress pictures!
Next up was on June 8. The 1812 Society marked the gravesite of William M. Reid, an original founder of the 1812 Society in Kansas City.
The next several posts should give everyone an idea of what has been going on at Elmwood!
On May 5, the Daughters of the American Revolution performed a re-dedication ceremony at the gravesite of Lucinda DeAtley Jackson - a REAL daughter of the American Revolution. Her father served in the American Revolution. Many of her descendants and relatives were in attendance including David Jackson, Thomas Platt, Steve Platt, Virginia McCoskrie, Jim MacLaughlin and Marcia Shavlik. It was an honor to host them all to remember Lucinda.

Elmwood has been closed this week due to the extreme weather conditions. Our roads are not plowed, so we didn’t want anyone getting “stuck.” Also, our office heater decided it was too cold to operate properly! The gates will be open next week with more moderate temps returning!
Our 2023 end of year emailed newsletter was sent on 1/31/2023! If you aren’t on our email list & would like a copy, please send us a message here on Messenger with your email address & we will forward you a copy! Thank you to all who generously donated to Elmwood in 2023. Your donations keep our bills paid, monuments maintained, and our doors open! We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without your support. THANK YOU!
This Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Elmwood Cemetery hopes to clean ALL of the VA issued white marble veteran's headstones in the cemetery!
Please come and join us! We will teach you the proper way to clean these markers using the same methods and materials approved by Arlington National Cemetery AND help an Eagle Scout candidate! All materials are provided for this very low-impact project.
No RSVP necessary - just plan on meeting us by the chapel at 10:00 a.m. Wear comfortable clothes/shoes and bring work gloves.
And YES, we greatly appreciate any donations to Elmwood!
