A Pitcher Perfect Moment 🤍
Sometimes less is more in a flower arrangement and/or bouquet. 🌿
We usually suggest a maximum of five flowers for an arrangement and/or bouquet with a few “filler” flowers and a decent amount of greenery.
This helps cut down on cost while also presenting a more natural aesthetic.
Tropical state of mind 🌺
Have you ever seen people place a smaller vase inside a larger vase to make a “fruit” vase for an arrangement?! 🍋
This is always fun to do if you want to get creative with clear vases or if you don’t have a patterned vase to put flowers in!
For example, start by taking your current clear vase with flowers and placing the entire thing inside a larger clear vase ensuring there is about an inch of space between the two vases. Then take lemon slices and/or orange slices (or any fruit you prefer) and line the inside of the larger vase starting at the bottom working your way up to the top. You can also add a little bit of water where the fruit slices are if you want to give them the “floating” effect.
Hobby Lobby is our best friend here at AEBlooms, especially when it comes to making our special memorial bouquets 🤍
This one might come as a shock ❄️ LITERALLY!
I know for myself, my first instinct is to put my new freshly cut flowers in cold water, but putting fresh cut flowers in ice-cold water can actually shock the flower stems. By shocking the flower stems, you prevent the stems from soaking up adequate water.
Warmer water gets flowers to open up and absorb the most water.
A memorial bouquet is a beautiful way to honor those we have lost, this is one that we personally have used for our loved ones 🤍
Everyone is different, but we ALWAYS start first with greenery when designing any type of arrangement! 🌿
Greenery is an important piece of an arrangement, because it makes it look fuller without having to have too many flowers. Greenery is also WAY cheaper than flowers too if you’re on a tighter budget but still want a lush arrangement!
Some of our favorite greenery bunches to put with flowers or stand alone include:
-Silver Dollar Eucalyptus
-Gunni Eucalyptus
-Ruscus
-Ferns

Do you wash your vases every time you get new flowers or add new flowers to a current arrangement? 🌿
This is a super important step!! ALWAYS clean your vases with soap and hot water once you obtain new flowers whether adding to current flowers or completely changing them. This helps to keep bacteria at bay and your new flowers alive and thriving!
Simple at Heart 🤍
Ever wonder why professional floral arrangements look perfectly placed in a vase? 🌷
Using water-resistant floral tape (or chicken wire), you can make what’s called a “grid” over the opening of your vase. This really comes in handy with shorter vases or with vases with a wider opening.
By making this “grid” it’s easier to arrange flowers and keep them in place rather than them falling over or falling out of the vase from lack of support.
In order to create a “grid,” take your tape and make parallel lines horizontally, starting at the top of your vase opening with one below the other until you reach the opposite edge. Then go back through, repeating the above step, only this time making parallel vertical lines that cross overtop of the horizontal lines. You should now have a vase with what looks like mini squares over the opening.
We love a dried eucalyptus and lavender wreath 🤍
It is important to make sure any foliage from the flower stems are not below water level within your vase. 🌿
If any foliage stays for a long period of time in the vase’s water, bacteria can form. This bacteria can cause your flower stems to die pretty quickly while also sometimes leaving a strong odor throughout your house.
You can strip the foliage from the stems pretty easily with your hands, or if the foliage is too thick you may need floral pruners.
Happy Mother’s Day 🤍

Did you know?!
🍓🍑🍌🥝🍎🫐
Ripening fruit gives off an odorless invisible gas called ethylene. Fruits like tomatoes, bananas and apples produce very high levels of ethylene.
This gas is harmless to humans, but rather deadly to flowers. In fact, this gas causes flowers to drop it’s petals and leads to significant aging.
**DIY ALERT!!**
Still need a Mother’s Day gift for this weekend?
This is literally one of the easiest pieces of wall art home decor to make while also staying within a $20.00 budget! All items except for the eucalyptus can be found at Hobby Lobby. I got the eucalyptus bunch pictured from Kroger, but some other stem choices you may consider using could be palm leaves, bunny tail grass, pampas grass, etc.
What You’ll Need:
-1 White Woven Round Wood Tray
-3ft Brown Twine
-Scissors
-Eucalyptus bunch (preferably dried, but it’s okay if it’s not-it will dry out in time) or a bunch of your preferred stem choice.
How To Assemble:
1). Start with your 3ft brown twine. Cut the twine into 3 individual 1ft pieces.
2). Next, start with the middle bunch by gathering about 10-ish eucalyptus stems. The amount will depend on the type of stems you choose. The type of eucalyptus I picked required about 10 or a little more stems due to the small foliage, but if you use stems with a “fuller look” you may only need 5 stems for the middle. The biggest part to keep in mind is that the middle bunch should be bigger than the two side bunches.
3). After gathering your middle bunch, place it in the middle of the White Woven Round Wood Tray. Now, take 1ft of your cut twine starting from the back of the tray, while keeping the bunch in place, thread both ends of the twine through the closest separate “holes” in the tray to then tie a knot with the bunch underneath. You’ll want to make sure to tie the knot over the stems and not the foliage.
4). With the excess twine, wrap it back through the two holes chosen to then bring to the front again for extra security to tie a bow.
5). Repeat the previous three steps with the two smaller side bunches. Just remember to only use a few stems for the smaller sides. My two sides have 3 eucalyptus stems a piece.
After you’re finished, you may decide you want to put “backing” on to help it hang on the wall easier; however, it hangs perfectly fine by using one of the “holes” from the tray!

Ever wonder why your fresh cut flowers wilt within a few days? 🌿
It is always important, with most flowers, to trim individual fresh stems at about a 45 degree angle before arranging them into a vase. By angling the stems, it allows the flowers to absorb more water due to an increase in surface area.
In order to properly angle your stems, make sure to trim your stems under a steady stream of water and cut your stems at minimum 3/4 inch to 1 inch from the bottom (or until there is no more browning discoloration).
Don’t forget to repeat these steps every 2 to 3 days to keep your flower stems looking vibrant and beautiful!
We love wedding weekends, especially when the ones getting married are close friends 🤍 Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Bentley, we are so happy for you and love you both!! 🤍
