Our Story
The Maya Heritage Community Project began in 2002 when university students and local Maya held a workshop on Maya history, language and culture. Our mission is to promote fairness in the global system and combat institutionalized injustice. The director of the project first met with Maya in Guatemala in 1972, and has had a long respect for the people. Only when the original peoples can be allowed justice in the Americas, only then can we claim racial or social justice for anyone in the Americas.
