This month in Kenosha Coast Guard Auxiliary History! In January, 1942, the newly reorganized Kenosha flotilla received its first official assignment from Coast Guard Station Kenosha: a major recruiting drive. With the Battle of the Atlantic raging in the east, Great Lakes Coast Guard personnel were transferred to anti-submarine and es**rt duty, leaving the Kenosha station with a single active duty crew member. By augmenting the lone Guardian and filling the ranks with fresh recruits, Kenosha's Flotilla 41-01 kept the station operational and provided the strength to help win the war. We have been proud of our heritage within the community of Kenosha for 84 years and going strong! Anyone with an interest in joining America's Volunteer Lifesavers as a part of Team Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security can contact the flotilla at [email protected]. Semper Paratus! Always Ready!
