Preventing child abuse and neglect through strengthening families.
This campaign is to bring awareness to Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month during the month of April, promote strong families, and provide tools and resources to help strengthen families in our community.
We had a great time at our annual Family Fun Run/Walk at the Kenosha County Center yesterday. We were so happy to collaborate with The Families Branching Out Resource Fair which followed the run/walk. A special thanks to all of the volunteers, the Exchange Club, Rustoleum Cares and all of the elected officials that joined us.
Thank you to everyone who attended, see you next year!!

Congratulations to one of our Strong Family Award recipients- the Demoulin Family! Their nominator had this to say: “2 years ago, this family found themselves in a housing transition. After a little over a year and a half, they were able to find an apartment and move in. Katie has demonstrated significant progress in her parenting. When we first started working together, she wasn't open to new parenting techniques. Katie now doesn’t hesitate to reach out if she needs guidance, is interested in learning new parenting strategies or feels like she could use advice on how to handle a situation. She shows interest in other community resources, family activities in the community, food drives, clothing drives, etc. Katie works hard to have strong relationships with her children, to ensure they live in a safe space where they feel comfortable coming to her about anything. Katie continues to grow her family relationships by having family meals and family outings together. She advocates for her family to get connected with any resources in Kenosha, that would be beneficial. I am extremely proud of this whole family, especially Katie.
We are so proud of your family, keep up the great work!
Last night we were able to come together, shared a meal, and played games with families who attended our Strong Family Dinner and Game Night. We would like to first and foremost thank the wonderful families who shared their evening with us. And a special thank you to Rust-Oleum Cares, DeRango’s "The Pizza King" Restaurant, the Safe Kids Strong Families Committee, and all of our awesome volunteers for making this a great event! If you see a picture of your family and would like a copy, feel free to message us. 😊
Congratulations to one of our Strong Family Award recipients- the Kopp Family! Their nominator had this to say: “The Kopp family has worked incredibly hard to strengthen their family in the last several years. They have 3 young sons, each having their own unique set of needs. These two parents take any opportunity to educate themselves of their children's needs and run with it; they arrive to every meeting prepared and knowledgeable on the topic at hand. Because of all the extensive research and time spent listening to their children express their needs, they can be amazing advocates for their children. They will do everything in their power to ensure their children are receiving the care and support they need. The Kopp's jump at any opportunity for parenting support or psychoeducation pertaining to their children's needs. They have completed Trauma-Informed Parenting, Circles of Security training courses to name a few. The Kopp's are actively involved in their church community as well as their local Scouts troop.”
We are so proud of your family, keep up the great work!
Congratulations to one of our Strong Family Award recipients- the Hunt Family! Their nominator had this to say: “Vickie is a wonderful grandmother to her young granddaughter Katalina. Katalina lost her mother to drug addiction and then 7 days later lost her father to su***de. Vickie has stepped up, sacrificed, and works hard to give Katalina the best. You wouldn't even know Katalina has been through all the trauma she has, as Vickie utilized her supports and community resources to get Katalina all the help she needs. An example of Vickie utilizing her supports- Katalina's friend Jaxson organized a community event, Katalina's Day, to rally around Katalina after losing her parents. Vickie has also used all that she has learned about drug addiction in loss of her daughter, to help educate others. Vicki ensures Katalina has a stable, happy, childhood and does not suffer anymore trauma...she is a prime example of keeping children safe."
We are so proud of you, Vickie!
