Renaissance upcycling! This weekend, the Feaste costumers and friends made these lovely stockings from bits and pieces of costume remnants. Several more items are in process. We had a nice turn out and plan to have another workshop in September. We are hoping to offer these and more for sale at the alumni reunion. Watch this space for future events!
It's a costuming reunion!
Join us on Saturday, June 22, 2024 as we create with the bits & bops of scrap fabric and trim to create one of a kind memories for the reunion to come. (Time: 9:30-3pm : Come when you can. Leave when you must.)
Whether it be a pillow, as inspired by the gift from a former Madrigal Singer, or a crazy patch stocking to hang by the chimney with care, we'd love to see you and your creativity !
Location: North Door: 8760 - 37th Avenue Kenosha, 53142
Bring: Creativity and Laughter!
Ye Olde Production Team met last night to start planning the 50th Reunion. Casually, we drafted a placeholder Facebook event... and 13 people had replied INTERESTED before the meeting had ended!
We are DELIGHTED to see so much enthusiasm, and may tap y'all for help, especially in reaching out to alumni. Like and share this page, and tag friends in the comments to build awareness.
At Sunday's closing performance, the entire Feaste family took a moment to give thanks to our dear colleague, teacher, mentor and friend, Polly Amborn, who will retire from KUSD after 35 years and from the Feaste of 22 years.
When Polly took the choral director position at George Nelson Tremper High School , she stepped into the giant shoes of Kurt Chalgren, founder of the Feaste.
Unflappable, she set about building her own legacy, every bit as dazzling. The excellence of the many ensembles and singers she has directed speaks for itself. But the awards and accolades were never her goal. She has always sought to instill the lifelong passion and fulfillment found in singing into so many hearts.
Her colleagues on the production team found the perfect greeting card message:
“The light you see in others shines in you as well. “
That neatly summarizes Polly’s entire career. As a teacher, but also friend, confidante, mentor, and shoulder to cry on, Polly has been a safe place for kids growing to maturity in a confusing world. She reinforces the person's innate, unique value to themselves, not only as a reflection of talent or achievement.
You can stop teaching, but never stop being Polly, Polly!
We hope you wear this small token as remembrance of the many gifts of Christmas you have showered on us all. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
