The 5th grade musical is happening on June 11th in the Sunrise MPR. Doors open at 6pm. The PTA will be selling concessions, however, we are looking for a non-5th-grade parent to help out with the selling. If you are interested, you can drop Jenny a line at JPeteQ *at* gmail dot com.

They are also looking for someone to help wrangle the kids who aren't on stage during the performance. They'll have a live feed of the show going on in the classroom so you won't miss it, but if you've got a kiddo in the school who isn't in 5th grade but wants to attend, this might be a great way to help out. If you can help wrangle the kids during the show, you can let Ms. Hamlin know at nicole (dot) hamlin (at) kent.k12.wa.us

Sunrise community, our amazing Backpack Buddy leader, Michael Cole, won't be able to pick up the food this coming week because he will be at camp with his 5th grader. Is there anyone willing to pick up the food and deliver it to the school?

Also, since this is his last year, this would be a great opportunity for anyone interested to see what the procedure is for the future if you're interested in taking over this important job!

We urgently need 5 males and 4 females to come to chaperone 5th grade camp with our schools (Sunrise, Springbrook and Kent) on 4/2-4/4 or they will be canceling our camp overnight. Please let ms geiss know if you can come!!! You do not have to be a 5th grade parent. A responsible adult is what they are needing. VIPS approved as well. This is free too.

We have another textile drive coming up in March. If you are doing some spring cleaning and want to get rid of any clothes, shoes, towels, etc, we are happy to take them off your hands! You can email me at treasurer (at) sunrise-pta.org to set up a pickup or we can meet at the Awsome Cubes Storage Unit in Kent, across from the Covington Library. They have generously donated a storage unit for us to use for our textile drive!

Hello, Sunrise! Toy donations will be accepted Tuesday night at late-night book fair shopping and Wednesday evening at BINGO and the book fair.

KAC PTSA Clothing Bank is open this week on Dec. 7th. Share with anyone who should know. :)

Sunrise is a 2023 Toys for Joy collection site. This is not a PTA sponsored activity BUT we're 100% excited to support it. Please send new, unwrapped, toys, to Sunrise now through 12/13. There are bins around the school for students to drop-off donations.

The wrapping party will be THURSDAY 12/14 (confirmed as of 12/1). Everyone is invited to help wrap the donated toys and enjoy some festive cheer.

About Toys for Joy: Puget Sound Fire, Puget Sound Fire Fighters (IAFF Local 1747), and the Kent Firefighters Foundation proudly sponsor the annual Toys for Joy and Jerry Woods Holiday Engine holiday programs to provide food and toys for those in need during the holiday season.

We've also got two evenings for families to shop one of which is also BINGO night! Check out the book fair page for all the details including a link to the book fair preview and how to volunteer.

Sunrise Book Fair Scholastic Book Fair happens twice a year at Sunrise Elementary in Kent, WA. This is such an awesome opportunity to add to your home library. Shop in-person or on-line. Volunteers always needed.

Hey Sunrise! Can you help? From the 5th grade team:
Looking for a few volunteers to help at our 5th grade potluck from noon-1:25 on Wednesday. We just need a few adults to help set up the tables and food, keep the line moving and make sure students are only taking 4 items off the tables. Hoping for parents who don’t have a 5th grader so they don’t miss celebrating with their child. Please comment below if you can help! Thank you!

It has come to our attention that we need sanitary napkins and mini deodorants for our students.

Normally we apply for a grant through P&G but they have discontinued the program.

We were given some sanitary napkins from the district, but they are large, uncomfortable, and hard for young students to wear.

We have had some deodorant donated to us during health learning, but they are for boys only. We need both gender items.

We are asking our community to donate items, lots or a little. They can be ordered online and delivered to re: nurses station, or dropped off at school.
