Join us May 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Killeen Special Events Center (3301 South WS Young Drive) for our Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, in partnership with Central Texas Council of Governments. Dispose of items responsibly and for ! Accepted items include fluorescent bulbs, acids, antifreeze, petroleum products, household cleaners, used oils, pesticides, paints, batteries, and other chemicals.

Today affiliates of the Points of Light Foundation, as part if its Global Gathering, conducted service projects with children with hearing disabilities, seniors, and promoting language and cultural learning. As polyglot I participated in the language project.

The Killeen Police Department will host the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free event will be held at Lions Club Park (1700 East Stan Schlueter Loop) and its purpose is to build support for victims and survivors of domestic violence.

The Killeen, Harker Heights and Copperas Cove police departments are providing drop-off locations and disposal of unwanted prescription medication.
Residents can drop off prescription drugs with the desk officer on duty in the lobby of the Killeen Police Department, 3304 Community Blvd., or the desk officer at the North Precinct, 402 N. Second St.
The Harker Heights Police Department will hold its drug take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 402 Indian Trail.
Residents can drop off medications anonymously from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. today through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Copperas Cove Police Department, 302 E. Avenue E.
Killeen, Heights, Cove police take back drugs Three local police departments are offering residents a chance to turn in their expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs during a national drug take-back event this week.
As Hurricane approaches Florida and surrounding areas, we support the critical community preparation and recovery efforts of our fellow affiliates that are impacted. Please stay
safe if you’re in the area and do not self-deploy to aid in recovery efforts.
The Killeen Empowerment Center is looking for volunteers to assist on the 2nd and 4th Saturday from 9am-12pm of each month. Volunteers will help to prepare boxes of food and load boxes into cars.

Killeen Volunteers Inc, is supporting the Moss Rose Community Warming station with donations and volunteers for approximately 15 homeless individuals of whom will need shelter from extreme weather. The address of the Moss Rose Community Center is 1103 east Ave. E Killeen,Texas. Hours for the warming station are 6 pm to 9 am . We are responsible for providing a dinner and breakfast . The City of Killeen will provide the personnel that stays up at night .
We are collecting donations of personal hygiene products, individually wrapped snacks, disinfectant, bottled beverages, items to refill the pantry, clean clothes all ages and sizes.

We are STILL over capacity at our Animal Shelter. Every weekend, the community is coming out to help clear our shelters but we aren’t quite there.
We will be offering FREE adoptions this Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26, to help clear out our shelter.
Consider opening your space to take in strays and better care for the animals.
Animals that are sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped will be available.
If you can’t adopt, we ask that you look into the opportunity to foster or volunteer at our shelter.

Killeen Volunteers offers its prayers and condolences to the Villaronga family. Former Mayor Raul Villaronga passed on to glory March 20, 2021. We honor his service to our community. Among the various things he has done in the area was one of our Presidents and was instrumental in establishing the Youth Advisory Council. As information on the celebration of his life is released we shall share.
