First established by Germans in America in 1887, Groundhog Day was actually inspired by Europe's Candlemas Day, during which clergymen would bless the candles they needed for the cold season. If the candles brought a sunny day, there would be six more weeks of winter.

HERE'S WHY VETERANS DAY IS ON NOVEMBER 11th: On the morning of November 11, 1918, after four years of war, Allied and German powers met in Rethondes, France, to sign an armistice that halted the hostilities of World War I. The agreement was signed shortly after 5:00 a.m. and went into effect at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918, finally bringing to an end the carnage of the Great War. One year later, on the first anniversary of the armistice, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the first Armistice Day, both to honor the services of the troops and to celebrate the opportunity that victory provided for the United States to advance the cause of peace and justice in the world.

A recent review that really means so much to us...

This is one of the best experience I’ve had ever. Krista was awesome and very patient with us. She was very knowledgeable on everything we needed to know. I highly recommend this place for all your burial needs.

Very kind review on Google by someone who saw the importance of pre-planning and wanted to share his experience...

Just locked in my forever home I will be here until resurrection day. I’ll be on a hill with a great view of Killeen and surrounding area a place were you would love to visit it has branch to sitting on so you can think about some of the crazy things I said or did 😂
Krista Liebengood was my Family Service Counselor and she helped make this process easy, there are a lot of moving parts to a Funeral Service but she made sure I had a complete understanding of what was involved.
She arranged a payment plan within my budget and I signed on the dotted line with a smile.
My Casket is the Bomb , I love it!!
But no hurry to use it lol
You gonna need this service sooner or later so do it now and do it at Killeen Memorial Park.
The Time and the Price is right👍🏽

On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag.
Since 1916, when President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation establishing a national Flag Day on June 14, Americans have commemorated the adoption of the Stars and Stripes in many ways–displaying the flag in the front of their homes, parades, and other patriotic observances. Prior to 1916, many localities and a few states had been celebrating the day for years. Congressional legislation designating that date as the national Flag Day was signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1949; the legislation also called upon the president to issue a flag day proclamation every year.

Public Service Announcement:

Fraud Alert

As a cremation and funeral service provider, we regret the need to provide this warning.

We recently became aware of what is apparently a nationwide scam targeting consumers of cremation, funeral and cemetery services. We have also been advised by a client family that they too were contacted and multiple times! Fortunately, they did NOT provide any information and called us immediately.

First awareness came from a funeral director friend in West Virginia: "This scam happened to a family at our funeral home yesterday. We have the local authorities and the FBI involved."

Second awareness came from a funeral director friend in California: "We just had this discussion yesterday with location managers. One family got scammed even before they came to the funeral home to finalize funeral arrangements."

How can this be happening? Apparently, scammers are trolling obituaries in newspapers, on newspaper websites and on websites of funeral homes, crematories and cemeteries.

When the trollers find an obituary with family members who they feel would be vulnerable, they Google personal information seeking the phone number, addresses, etc. of those grieving next-of-kin.

Then the troller goes to a funeral home, crematory or cemetery website to find a name of a staff member.

Fraudulently identifying themself as a staff member, the troller then calls a grieving family member demanding credit card information in order to proceed with services to be rendered.

Consumers need to be aware of this scam. If you receive a call from an individual claiming to be a funeral home employee who is attempting to gather financial and/or personal info1mation, please consider the following:

Refuse payment and NEVER disclose credit card numbers, banking information, social security numbers or a date of birth.

Tell the caller you will follow-up directly with the funeral home or cemetery and end the call.

Feel free to end the call without explanation if it appears suspicious or to be a scam.

If possible, take down the caller's information (including name, title, phone number, and email address), and report this to police and to your funeral director or cemetery staff member.

When a member of the military is separated, is charged from active duty, or retires, they receive a DD Form 214. This form is used to verify that a person was indeed a military service member. In order to plan a military funeral that includes funeral honors, this form must be presented to the funeral director before the arrangement process can begin.

Most families prefer the burial of a family member more private and personal. Cremation is also convenient for families who don’t live close to each other. The location for the burial is not also a problem because you can bring the urn when you move and you don’t have to go back to the place you lived before to visit them.

Its formal name is McMillin Mausoleum, named for John S. McMillin, Freemason, Methodist, and lime works businessman. The so-called “mausoleum” is actually an open air rotunda with a huge limestone table in the middle.
