Yesterday we dedicated our 23rd home to a local family! ✨🏠✨The Dedication ceremony is a time to honor the coming together of the community to help a family realize the dream of owning a home. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly, the donors who generously contributed, and everyone who had a hand in making the dream of homeownership a reality for Marina and her children. It serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and the power of giving.
It may surprise you that when your neighbors live in substandard housing, it impacts you as well.
Quality, accessible, and affordable housing can significantly improve physical and mental health.

Finding treasures, funds homes!
That’s right… Shopping at Ulster Habitat Restore means more than great deals. Each purchase supports Habitat for Humanity's mission to provide affordable housing. Transform your home and your community. Come shop this weekend! The ReStore is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
Sweat equity can take many forms for future homeowners partnering with Habitat. Essentially, it’s a new homeowner investing work in their home or one for another family. It’s an opportunity for families to help build their home alongside volunteers and play an active part in making their dream of owning a home a reality.
Future homeowners are required to complete sweat equity/volunteer hours. Some examples of Construction work, cleaning up the build site, working in a Habitat ReStore, assisting in administrative duties, taking homeowner classes, etc.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday thanks to Opal Lee, a dedicated activist. She is often referred to as the "grandmother of Juneteenth". Her personal story of "coming home" is powerful, moving, and a "must read," but it also sheds light on our heinous history of housing injustice for Black Americans.
The legacy of redlining, discriminatory lending practices, and systemic racism has created a system that perpetuates housing inequities. As a result, generations of individuals and families have been trapped in a cycle of disadvantage and inequality. On Juneteenth, we celebrate, but also reflect on the inequities of the present and ways to help fix them.
❤️🖤💚💛
"Grandmother of Juneteenth" Opal Lee moves into new home on family's former lot in Fort Worth The "Grandmother of Juneteenth," who was 12 when white rioters burned down her family home, got the new house for free.
