I can’t believe it’s over. Ten years. You’re an uptown staple—been an integral part of its growth. As I sat at the bar tonight, watching these two people love a place so deeply I was brought to tears many times. Saddened by what the future may hold for Kingston. Remembering all the times we’ve grown together from little baby shops to now. Thank you for always being our friend, our support, our can-I-borrow-some-garlic go to person, our neighborhood bar that I can sit for hours at. Always feeling welcome. And loved. And cared for. And fed. Thank you my friends. Can’t wait for the next.

Let’s give these babes a Christmas to remember ❤️❤️

We have a few people every year that are appalled that a child would ask for a pair of Nike sneakers, AirPods, bike or scooter, laptop, video game console/accessories, etc. and this year is no different.

I can only explain it from our point of view. Did you know that most of these kids go their whole life getting “hand me down” clothing and gently used toys or gifts. Nothing wrong with that...at least they have clothes, and toys, right?

But be mindful, these kids go to school with YOUR kids and they want what YOUR kids want.
They wonder why Santa brought YOUR kids the video games and XBoxes but not to them.

Sometimes getting second hand items your whole life makes you feel, well, second hand. These are "wishes" that the children have. We never said they were needs.

When I was young, we adopted a child from the Angel tree and a friend of my mother's made a comment about she couldn't believe they would ask for such expensive items. But her kids were asking for the same thing. So its okay for a kid from rich parents to ask for an Xbox but not a kid from a poor parent? What did either do to "deserve" an xBox? Nothing.

So let us be totally transparent and say yes, here at Christmas Wishes, we allow the kids to ask for crazy things. This may be the only time in their life they get something extravagant.
