If we are not intimate with our emotions, we cannot perceive the dynamics that lie behind our emotions, the way that these dynamics work, and the ends that they serve. Emotions are currents of energy that pass through us. Awareness of these currents is the first step in learning how our experiences come into being and why.

Without an awareness of your emotions, you are not able to experience reverence. Reverence is not an emotion. It is a way of being, but the path to reverence is through your heart, and only an awareness of your feelings can open your heart. (Gary Zukav. The Seat of the Soul)

“The fundamental error persists in the public that there are definite answers, "solutions," or views which need only be uttered in order to spread the necessary light. But the most beautiful truth — as history has shown a thousand times over— is of no use at all unless it has become the innermost experience and possession of the individual. Every unequivocal, so-called "clear" answer always remains stuck in the head and seldom penetrates to the heart.
The needful thing is not to know the truth but to experience it.
Not to have an intellectual conception of things, but to find our way to the inner, and perhaps wordless, irrational experience — that is the great problem.
Nothing is more fruitless than talking about how things must or should be, and nothing is more important than finding the way to these far-off goals. Most people know very well how things should be, but who can point the way to get there?”

Imagine you were to love yourself just as you are – with all these human flaws. Every human has imperfections; this is part of human incarnation. Your task is to see them clearly and love anyway. Now become the loving awareness that can witness and hold your life with its successes and imperfections in a sea of love.

Love yourself. This is the essence. Then take your very human imperfections and make beauty anyway.

"It's not your job to like me, it's MINE." - .katie

Your worthiness and value is not up to anyone else; they don't make that choice. You are the only one in your life who can determine who you are and what you want to do. It's your job to like yourself and believe in yourself.
