Another storm update...

It may be starting to slow down some, winds a little calmer. It ramped up even more after my update earlier, with winds gusting to just shy of 100mph. Sustained winds were around 85 mph for a while, probably about 3 hours or so. Now they seem to be gusting only to like 50 or 60 mph.

We lost internet briefly earlier, and the power crazily flickered here for a bit, but crossing fingers as both are working right now.

Definitely a bunch of debris was flying down the street next to us, which probably all ended up in the lake behind the house. Wasn't debris from us, and looked like possibly strips of shingles and also some plastic stuff from further up the street. Will be interesting to see what that part of the street looks like later this morning.

We don't have a concern for flooding at the house here, based on our elevation and the lake and pond and swamp area around us so that is good. Seeing that people here in central florida are being rescued in their homes by boat because of the flooding. I think some areas received like 2 feet of rain in like 4 hours sort of thing.

To all my Florida friends and family, hope you are all doing ok!

Definitely a very rough and long night. Ready to head to bed here maybe in the next hour or so if it seems like it is calmed down for good.

This was definitely the worst of the hurricanes I've been through so far, which is saying a lot because I was here for Charley 20 years ago.

Storm update:

Doing ok so far, still a few hours to go.

Have lost some of the fence so far, not sure if anything else is broken, damaged, or gone yet...but seems ok.

The winds the last hour have been the most intense of any storm I have been through so far. Just crazy that the windows and doors are bowing in a decent amount on the really bad gusts.

Will be staying up and waiting it through until it is done.

As I type this, the worst winds so far came through and I can say I'm definitely ready for this to be over. We will stay safe and will update as I can on how it is going.
