As some of you may know, we have a special place in the taproom for the Knoxville breweries that came before us, Brewery Heaven. If you don’t know, ask your bartender.

We had to make a special sticker to commemorate the occasion. A tombstone to place in Brewery Heaven. Although Elst is gone, The Black Dog will have the same quality beers you have come to expect from Elst. The brains behind the brews, Dan Leonard, will be staying to run the brewing operations. This is not the end but the next chapter of the story here in North Knoxville.

🥤VANILLA MILKSHAKE DAY!🥤
This Saturday 7/27, join us in celebrating our favorite beer that doesn’t taste like beer. The Vanilla Milkshake Ale.

It’s not a milkshake IPA, it’s not a dessert stout, it’s not a gluten free sour, it’s our very own VMA! Brewed with large amount wheat and oats but very little hops this beer was meant to highlight the sweet fluffy deliciousness of Vanilla. Loads of body but not sweet from the grain we add vanilla but no sugar added.

For this special day we’re adding a new twist on the classic with the Orange Creamsicle VMA. This beer is a problem. Way too delicious, way too orange crushable. Be careful out there.

To celebrate we’ll also have vanilla ice cream and orange creamsicles while supplies last!

BBN Hospitality ( , , ) is thrilled to announce its acquisition of Elst Brewing Company, marking an exciting new chapter for our beloved Knoxville establishment.

BBN Hospitality has carried Elst beers for years and is passionate about supporting and expanding the offerings. Although certain aspects of Elst will remain, the new concept will be called The Black Dog, paying homage to the original bar/Nightclub that occupied the space in the 1970’s, The Black Poodle.

🌮While we build out a restaurant we are bringing Chivo menu items to the brewery. The Chivo trailer will be onsite
serving tacos, salsa, queso, as well as other fan favorites, adding a vibrant culinary dimension to the brewery experience. Badass tacos + incredible beer. Win/win!

✨ Important Announcement ✨
It is with mixed emotions that we share some important news about the future of Elst. After five wonderful years of serving this incredible community, we have decided to sell our building and transition to new ownership. We will continue to operate as Elst through August 5th. After that, the space will be handed over to new ownership.

From the very beginning, our goal was to create a community spot where neighbors could meet, friendships could blossom, and countless memories could be made. Over the years, we have had the honor of hosting baby showers, birthdays, Kay’s Day celebrations, happy hours, and more. Seeing our space filled with laughter and joy has brought us immense happiness.

As we reflect on this journey, we want to express our deepest gratitude to each of you. Your support, love, and presence have made Elst a truly special place. However, we have come to the conclusion that now is the right time for us personally to hand over the keys to a group that will bring new effort and energy to the neighborhood.
But we are not going gently into that good night! We invite you to help us make new memories, raise a glass to past ones, and celebrate our final month at Elst. Join us in culminating our journey with a grand 5-year Anniversary party on August 3rd and 4th before we welcome our new hosts. 🎉🍻

Our classic American Brown Ale is back on tap. Back Alley Brown Ale is a smooth drinking American Brown Ale with complex dark malts and biscuit flavors. It is brewed with a blend of roasted and chocolate malts, which give it a rich, full-bodied flavor. The biscuit malts add a touch of sweetness and complexity, while the hops provide a subtle bitterness.

Gluten free seltzer flavored with kool-aid. We hopped on down to the Fellini Kroger and bought the freshest tubs of tropical punch powder they had to offer. Following the recipe on the package we added 9 tubs of powder including sugar into this keg of seltzer. Just like mama used to make.

On the left we have Kay’s Amber Ale. Three varieties of caramel malt are the spotlight of this American Amber Ale. Medium bodied with low hop bitterness, sessionable level of alcohol,and a smooth malty finish.

On the right is something completely different but the same color. This sour ale has been dosed with margarita mix and salt. IT’S SUPER SOUR. It is also NOT gluten free.
