It’s Testimony Tuesday, the best day of the week. Today we are hearing from ! Keep reading to hear her story:
“I grew up in a christian household where I was at church just about anytime the doors were open. My parents made the Gospel a part of everyday conversations so I really cannot think of a time where I didn’t know what it meant to follow God. I would say that I started following Him at a young age.
However, throughout middle school and high school I found myself putting my self worth and identity in what others might think or say about me. This led to anxiety and bitterness in my heart for a while. I lived waiting for people to approve of me and when I didn’t hear that they did I grew more bitter. But through the prayers and conversations with my mom and friends I was reminded that Jesus has the final word about who I am. Living in insecurity and resentment was not in alignment with what God had already spoken. God offers freedom and security in ways the world could never offer me.”
Join us THIS FRIDAY for a night of worship with our fellow campus ministries at the parking lot of BCM! Bring a blanket, chair, and all your friends!
If it rains we will move inside :)
Happy Testimony Tuesday! Today we are hearing from, Sophomore, . Keep reading to hear his story:
“Growing up I was always surrounded by what I thought was good Christian community. I went to church, I went to a Christian school, I went to youth groups, etc. Now none of these things are bad, but it blinded me from the truth. While I was saved through Christ, I was not growing my relationship with him. I was simply going through the motions being the good Christian kid everyone expected me to be. But that was only on the outside. On the inside I was struggling.
Around my senior year of high school, I finally decided that I was going to pick up the Bible and start trying to foster the relationship with God. I started in James, and it made me realize how overwhelmingly prideful I was. Throughout the rest of my senior year and all the way through my freshman year of college, I tried to work on my pride and the rest of my sins. However, because I was trying to do it alone, I saw no real progress.
While I went to Cru some during my freshman year, I decided I was going to go all in starting my sophomore year. From joining a Bible study to serving wherever I could to just actively trying to get to know everyone, I found true Christian community. Everyone at Cru pushes you to grow and improve in such a loving and caring way. It helped me start to actually overcome my sins and now I feel like I actually have a relationship with the Lord. This community has been such a blessing to my life and there isn't another I'd rather be a part of!”
We can’t wait to be with you tonight at 8 in AMB 32! ’s very own Ryan Bibb will be speaking! 🤩 And don’t forget to come dressed as your Bible study leader!
Cru Formal? Duh. 🤩
Happy ✨Testimony Tuesday✨ Today we are hearing from Sophomore, . Keep reading to hear his story:
“I grew up in a context where I just thought everyone was a Christian. I thought that was just what people did, so my understanding of what it meant to be a Christian was very shallow. At the age of 12 I sat down with my pastor and prayed a prayer to receive Christ. In my mind nothing had changed because I was already going to church and in the mold of ‘being a Christian.’
This weak foundation and not truly understanding the gospel lead to a lot of worldly pursuits in high school. I was seeking satisfaction and fulfillment in a party culture where I was never going to find it. I was left empty. Through this time I also had a lot of doubts about my salvation. I never doubted God was real, but I doubted my standing with him. This led to me really neglecting this area of my life because I didn’t want to face it. I put on the mask and played the part, but I wasn’t committed to Christ.
This is where I was at heading into college, and God continued to work on me and show me the world could not satisfy me. In this, God opened my eyes to see how truly deep my sin was. He showed me how serious it was to sin against him, and because of that I could see how truly great the gospel was. Jesus Christ died for sinners! It was here that my faith was genuine and I had never felt anything so real. When I had fully committed to Christ, I knew I needed to fully commit to community, and it has been such an immense blessing in my time at school.”
Happy Resurrection Week, Vols! -love,
Happy Testimony Tuesday! Today we are hearing from freshman, . She is a light in so many lives. Keep reading to hear her story:
“I grew up going to a baptist church and was saved at 13. But I didn’t understand how to really live as a Christian. I just went on with daily life without thinking too much of it. When I came to college I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was scared of being on my own. I realized that I could turn to the Lord to guide me in life and that I wasn’t alone. I started going to Cru and met by friends through Bible study. All of the people I have met continually show me that I am not alone anymore. That the Lord is always there for me.”
