✨ On this day in history...40 years ago, Neptune's rings were discovered!
On July 22, 1984, through simultaneous observations of a stellar occultation, André Brahic and William B. Hubbard first detected what appeared to be arcs around Neptune. These rings were confirmed and imaged by Voyager 2 in 1989.
Neptune's rings are named after astronomers significant to the planet's history—Galle, Le Verrier, Lassell, Arago, and Adams. Unlike Saturn's bright rings, Neptune's are fainter and dustier, with a resemblance to Jupiter's lesser-known rings.
POOL UPDATE!
We project that the pool will be reopened this week. We faced the challenge of 3 different pool companies providing 3 very different pool evaluations. We have repaired the backwash valve and seal, taken care of the chlorinator, plus the jets. These are things that all 3 companies reported in common. The pool is back to blue and we are balancing the levels and working on clarity so we can open. We apologize for the delay and are excited to reopen the pool for your enjoyment.
Attention Residents:
We are sad to announce that the pool will be closed until further notice. We know that it has been frustrating for everyone with all the pool closings. Today our Regional Maintenance Supervisor meet a CPA (Certified Pool Attendant) to evaluate the pool and pool equipment currently in use with hopes of identify why the pool struggles to stay chemically balanced. The CPA reported that Hudson's pool routine and care by the maintenance team is correct to maintain the pool but unfortunately, they have inherited an inadequate pool circulation pump. This prevents the jets from circulating the correct turnover rate of gallons per minutes to keep the pool properly chlorinated for extended use.
We are currently obtaining bids from multiple vendors to remedy the issues and reopen the pool as soon as possible. Though the pool will be closed for repairs in the meantime, we look forward to this resolving the repetitive pool closures in the future.
This also means that we will postpone the pool party until after the pool work is complete. We will have more information in the coming week regarding a timeline for reopening. We are sorry for this inconvenience and look forward to reopening as soon as possible.

Monday Maintenance Tips to Beat the Heat.
-Limit sunshine exposure. Close your blinds or curtains to block out the sun during the heat of the day.
-Don't turn it off. Keep the AC on but lower the temperature while you are away. You will lower your power bill by keeping the AC on. When you are out for the day set it to a higher temperature like 75 or 78. When you return home, lower it to your comfortable temperature. Turning the unit off while you are away, causes the AC to work 3X harder to remove the heat & humidity from the air. It also takes 5X longer to reach your desired temp in your home.
-Use the 20 degree rule. Remember that your HVAC is not made to reach temperatures more than 20 degrees lower than the outside temp at the heat of the day. Setting your thermostat any lower than the 20 degree mark can cause your unit to freeze up like a block of ice and prevent it from cooling your apt.
Pool is closed today. Water balloons and chunks of hard plastic were it the filter. We need to do some additional cleaning and work to ensure that it is safe to swim. We hope to be back open tomorrow.

Fun Fact Friday
The last American slave ship docked illegally in Mobile, Alabama in 1860, carrying about 160 West African captives. Among them was Cudjo Lewis, who recognized how his birth culture might be erased while toiling in this new land.
So when he was freed, he purchased two acres and started a self-sufficient community of survivors of the last slave ship. Known to outsiders as Africatown, Lewis' neighborhood was modeled on his West African home, where extended families lived together, members conversed in their regional languages, and partook in traditions that might otherwise be lost to them in America. Today, Africatown still exists and houses the descendants of the nation's last slave ship community.
Happy Independence Day! Celebrate safe. The office is closed today.

International Joke Day
Where would any of us be without jokes and laughter to brighten our spirits? It can help any situation. Today, we invite you to take some time out of your day to recognize the important job humor plays in keeping stress at bay, building relationships, and bringing levity to a world that badly needs it. And be sure not to confuse the purpose of International Joke Day with April Fools’ Day — the two couldn’t be further apart. July 1 is all about getting a grin out of your best friend, sharing a laugh on social media, and appreciating the stand up comics who have left us in stitches for decades.

PATIO PEEVES
Part of community living is being aware and respectful of your neighbors. When you enjoy your patio or balcony, remember that gravity works. If you enjoy potted plants on your balcony, please ensure that your plants have a saucer or dish to catch the water. It is unpleasant when your neighbor’s hobby rains down on you or your belongings. Your animal may enjoy sitting with you outside, please do not allow them to relieve themselves on the patio or balcony. Some people step outside to smoke, please be mindful that your neighbors might not be smokers. Please choose not to share your cigarette butts with them. Trash bags, beer boxes and pet waste bags are never to be stored on your patio or balcony.
