This year, Clarence Brown Theatre is once again the recipient of a generous grant from The Roy Cockrum Foundation!
Their incredible support directly funds our upcoming production of 'Knoxville', which runs Sept. 4- Sept. 22. Based on James Ageeās autobiographical, Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece 'A Death in the Family', this moving and innovative new musical reunites the dynamic Tony AwardĀ®-winning creative team, including Lynn Ahrens and Steven Flaherty, behind 'Ragtime'.
We are beyond grateful and honored to be the recipient of their support and can't wait to share this incredible production with you!
The Roy Cockrum Foundation was founded in 2014 by Roy Cockrum and Benita Hofstetter Koman with winnings from Mr. Cockrumās Powerball lottery jackpot. The Foundationās mission is to award grants to support world-class performing arts projects in not-for-profit professional theatres throughout America. Since 2014, 38 flagship American theatres and performing arts organizations have received major grants from the Foundation. Inspiration for its mission derives from a Camus quote:
āWithout culture, and the relative freedom it implies, society, even when
perfect, is but a jungle. This is why any authentic creation is a gift to the future.ā
ā Albert Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus and Other Essays.
Thank you to everyone who visited our table at SoKno Pride this past weekend! We had such an amazing time celebrating with all of you! š³ļøāš

It is World Laughter Day, so we thought we would share about āthe funniest play Broadway has ever seen!ā that is coming to CBT in our 2024-2025 season!
'The Play That Goes Wrong' is an ill-fated play-within-a-play, set on the opening night of the Cornley Drama Societyās newest production. The troupeās ambitious whodunit has everything you never want in a show: falling props, collapsing scenery, an unconscious leading lady, a co**se that canāt play dead, and actors who trip over everythingā¦including their lines. If you need some good laughter, this production is certainly for you!
