Kokomo Rescue Mission
Join us in showing the compassion of Jesus Christ to people who are homeless, hungry, and hurting! The Mission provides both shelter and outreach services.
Kokomo Rescue Mission is a Christian social service ministry providing Faith-based solutions to the problems of poverty and homelessness. Shelter is available for men and for women and children, with programs that minister to body, mind and spirit. Outreach programs include a free public dining room open twice daily and familiy assistance programs providing free clothing and household items. Holiday outreach provides help to family at Thanksgving and Christmas.
How fun! One of the women's small groups at Bridgeway Church Kokomo made up little mani ๐
๐ฝ bags to bless the women in our shelters this Christmas. ๐
Thank you for bringing a bit of cheer (and pizazz) to our residents, ladies! โค๏ธ๐
This Christmas, lift up a struggling local family with a generous gift to help provide meals, life-transforming assistance and a fresh start.

Weโve had this โจbeautyโจ for a few weeks now, and itโs been a game-changer for our Development Team! We do a lot of printing for our various events and ministries; so having a printer that can handle everything has been wonderful.
We thank the Community Foundation Serving Howard, Clinton & Carroll Counties for choosing us to receive a marketing grant from the Dr. John A. and Joan E. Bowman Community Fund that helped us purchase this printer (along with a video stabilizer and wireless microphone).
Through this grant, we are better able to let people know about our services and events to help the homeless, the hungry, and the hurting. Thank you!
You can go ahead and schedule that date night (or lunch/dinner out with friends/family) ๐ on ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ฒ, ๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐.
Our October Hacienda Gives Back Fiesta was so successful that we're throwing another one in two weeks! Rumor has it there might even be a "celebrity" server... ๐คซ
Thank God for His perfect plan ๐

"As a kid, these were the only Christmas presents we had..." - We've heard this said by more than one Red Ribbon Christmas volunteer.
And now it's ๐๐๐๐ turn to bring joy to many in need this Christmas season.
โบWe need an ARMY (like more than 100!) of delivery drivers to deliver Christmas boxes on Friday, December 15 starting at 7:30 AM.
If you have a valid drivers license, a buddy to come with you, and a few minutes to fill out the registration form linked below, you could be the person carrying a box full of cheer through the threshold of families in need this Christmas. We'd love to have you be a part of our delivery driver army! ๐ช๐ฝ๐

โจStruggling to find a gift for the person who already has everything they need/want?โจ
Use Kokomo Rescue Missionโs wishlists to purchase something for someone in need in honor of someone you love!๐
Head to one of the links listed below to view our wishlists for our three shelters and for our annual Back to School event (which provides undergarments for students who income-qualify).
You can select which items youโd like to buy and then honor your loved ones in one of two ways:
1) Select โthis item is a giftโ at checkout and write your loved onesโ names in the gift message area. This will allow us at KRM to see whom you have honored, but that person will NOT see it.
2) Print the receipt from your purchase, write a lovely note to your loved one on it, and deliver it to said loved one as a present to honor them.
๐Surprise your friends and family with gifts that help the homeless, the hungry, and the hurting! ๐

A fresh start begins with a warm meal and a helping hand. Share a gift during this year's Giving Tuesday and help provide care to neighbors in need. [To give now, visit https://bitly.ws/32jwW ].
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving!! ๐ฆ Many, many volunteers will work like a well-oiled machine to make sure people in need of a meal get blessed on Thanksgiving.
Some volunteers will arrive well before sunrise, cooking and prepping. Some volunteers have been serving for decades. Some have passed this tradition of serving on Thanksgiving Day down through the generations. Some will be delivering meals to people's homes; some will direct the heavy flow of cars waiting to pick up their delicious meals; some will scoop spoonfuls of mashed potatoes, stuffing, or other delectables into carryout containers.
We are so thankful for our many volunteers this Thanksgiving. โค๏ธ Kokomo Rescue Mission couldn't make this Feast happen without you!
Thank you so much, Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union! We are blessed by your generosity!
Last Sunday, at the annual We Care Trim-A-Tree festival, Solidarity purchased the Kroger Maplecrest Tree. Itโs displayed proudly in the lobby of the main office if youโd like to take a look.
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of donating some of the food gifts that came with the tree to the Kokomo Rescue Mission. โค๏ธ
We are proud to support their hard work serving those who may be homeless, hungry or hurting in Howard County. Thank you for all you do, KRM!
Glory be to God
If you need a new mattress, mark your calendar for December 2! 10% of your purchase will be given to the Kokomo Rescue Mission ๐๐ฝ
You don't realize how important some things are until you don't have them. Thank You, God, for taking care of us. โค๏ธ
Marjorie is on a roll! She just completed our course "Changes that Heal" with Chaplain Dave Boss.
Graduates of "Changes that Heal" learn to identify what is good and bad for their lives, learn to how bond with other people, and learn to put up appropriate boundaries when needed.
Let's give it up for Marjorie for taking a big step to get back on her feet. Way to go!! ๐
๐ฆREMINDER: You only have 7 more business days to call to arrange for Thanksgiving meal delivery!๐ฆ
Also, please be aware:
โบWe only deliver within Kokomo City limits
โบSomeone must be home to receive meals (We cannot leave them on the porch)
โบMeals will be delivered between 10:30AM-noon
(p.s. During our Thanksgiving Feast, you can tune in to Mix 105 Internet Radio, who will be broadcasting live from our site!)
๐A huge THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE to all our veterans on this Veterans Day!๐
We celebrated veterans currently staying at the Kokomo Rescue Mission with special meals from Steak 'n Shake (including milkshakes ๐คค)

๐REMINDER: You only have 3 dates left to apply for your Red Ribbon Christmas box (if you income-qualify). All applications must be done in-person, so make sure you mark your calendars for either Nov. 15, 27, or 28!๐
As part of our 2023 Fall Food Drive, the Kokomo Rescue Mission held its very first Spirit Week!! ๐๐ฝ This gave staff a fun way to donate even more much-needed items to fill our pantries. ๐ซ๐ฝ๐
In total, we donated 153.5 lbs just from dressing up in fun ways (those who participated donated one can per dress up day).
Please enjoy these photos from our staff ๐ (Most of the pictures are from our color wars day, where each department was assigned a different color to wear. You can have fun trying to figure out what the other days were...๐)
We love seeing the many ways God works through people. Here are two recent examples:
1) Brand new bicycles were donated by Bikes 'fore' Kids Golf Outing in Honor of Jordan Huddleston ๐ฒto gift to kids in need through our Red Ribbon Christmas Program๐. Jordan Huddleston loved blessing people at Christmas, and so his twin brother, Justin, started this charity golf outing ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ to raise money for the bikes. You can read more of this incredible story here:
https://kokomolantern.substack.com/p/bike-donation-keeps-twins-memory?r=108us4&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&fbclid=IwAR2vHzgbFEaSTT-TjUAaDGQunSpdmW16mpyVO0VDf0f6UnfKHqKU9DH9ptg
Joni DeLon (who is related to Justin) dropped off the brand new bikes and scooters at the Mission.
2) And then a small group of men from Bridgeway Church Kokomo spent their lunch hour one day to assemble all of the bikes and scooters. What a blessing! Building bikes is no small task, and many of the families receiving the bikes may not have the correct tools to do so, either.
Thank you, Bridgeway, for "bringing the up there down here" and for bringing joy to kids in our community this Christmas.
We LOVE watching God orchestrate through his followers โค๏ธ Thank You, Lord, for all these blessings!
Watch this podcast recording to hear our Executive Director, Kevin Smith, talk about the different services the Kokomo Rescue Mission has to offer!
This nickel came from a young boy who eats dinner here at the Mission daily.
He said, "Thank you for feeding me every day." and left it on the counter. ๐ญโค๏ธ
Lord, thank You for providing for this little one and his family. Thank You.
"Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, โTruly I tell you, this [little boy] has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but [he], out of [his] poverty, put in everything..." - Mark 12:43-44 (words in brackets adjusted for context)
Here are a few other fun (and somewhat cheeky ๐คญ) fundraisers other organizations are hosting to benefit the Kokomo Rescue Mission. We love it when our community comes together to help each other โค๏ธ
๐งฆWe got a surprise visit from XPO Kokomo, who donated a tote full of brand-new socks! Their employees held a "Socktober" event (very clever ๐) last month to collect these much-needed articles of clothing.
Thank you, XPO Logistics. () for blessing the Kokomo Rescue Mission with socks, especially with winter right around the corner ๐ฅถ ๐
Shoutout to Bridgeway Church Kokomo () for donating all these much-needed items!
Our Assistance team was super excited to inventory everything and was especially excited for those individually-wrapped toothbrushes. ๐ชฅ
Thank you, Bridgeway for blessing us and helping us serve the homeless, the hungry, and the hurting. ๐
๐ We had the cutest kids in costumes come to a special Trunk-or-Treat. A group of ladies from Fuel Church hosted this delightful event just for the kids currently in our shelter. ๐
The kids had a blast, and they looked incredibly cute. Thank you, ladies, for hosting this!
From everlasting to everlasting, His love never fails ๐งก
