Since we are now 5 days into October, we figured it was time to officially show you guys our kids Halloween display! 🎃👻

If you've been in our store during September, there's a good chance you might have already seen this display up, but we just couldn't help putting it up early! 😉 And stay tuned this month if you need some fun Halloween recommendations!!

The fall months are some of the best for publishing because we're all getting ready for the holiday season! As a result, we have a longer list this month. We hope you don't mind too much! 😉 Here are some of the titles we are most excited about!

As always, don't forget, if you see something on this list, come in and grab it while it's still 10% off. This discount only applies for the first month a title is released!!

This month, we saw a large number of Halloween titles already flying off the shelf!! 🎃

It also looks like fantasy has been popular with the Jr. Fiction crowd, though the adults are still leaning more towards general fiction and mystery! 🔎

In our last hurrah for Banned Book Week, we wanted to highlight some of our bestselling Jr. Fiction and Young Adult titles that have been banned!!

We absolutely love that so many of our bestselling titles are also banned titles!

👶🏻 Jenni Jewett is a parent to 3 children in the LCUSD school system. She also has training as a birth and postpartum doula, and will be acting as our moderator for this panel.

🧲 Natalie Daily is currently the librarian at Octavia Butler Magnet School in Pasadena. She has a degree in English, as well as a Masters in Library and Information Science. Additionally, Daily taught English for 12 years and now has 3 teenagers of her very own.

🎓 Ashley Grace is a social worker and professor in the Child Development field of California State University, Northridge. She is also an advocate for legal changes to support victims of sexual assault and gender-based discrimination. She now lives in southern California with her 3 children, and focuses on trying to improve outcomes for children in the foster care system.

🥧 Katherine Eisenstein is a mother of 2 and the librarian at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. She received her B.A. in English and holds a Masters in Library and Information Science. She spends her time reading, baking pies, and playing board games with her family.

Banned Books Week is coming Sept. 22 - 28. Please join us on Sunday, September 22 at 4 PM for a panel discussion. Our guests will share their unique perspectives, explore this polarizing issue and discuss, among other topics, why books continue to be banned, the impact of censorship, and their own personal or professional experiences regarding banned or challenged titles.
