Happy Nutrition Month! 🥗
Here in Gawad Kalinga, we believe that everyone deserves good health. Sadly, many children in the Philippines lack proper nutrition. Our programs, like our Community Productivity Hubs and Kusina ng Kalinga, aim to alleviate this problem by capacity building and providing nutritious meals to our villages.
Share your blessings and help us make a difference! Support by donating to the North Cotabato Productivity Hub and Kusina ng Kalinga program.
Together, we can help end hunger 🧡

GK USA extends a heartfelt thank you to Starbucks Philippines and our partners around the world for their commitment to ending hunger, malnutrition, and illiteracy among children in marginalized communities.
Gawad Kalinga’s partnership with Starbucks is truly making a significant impact. And this year we are even more grateful knowing that our combined efforts are reaching even more communities working towards a future where every child can grow up healthy and literate.
Since 2022, Gawad Kalinga and Starbucks Philippines have been partners in addressing hunger and malnutrition among children in marginalized communities.
This year, we are expanding the impact to more communities and leveraging food as a means to address illiteracy, as well.
In 2022, World Bank released a report that showed 91% of 10-year old Filipino children cannot read yet nor understand age-appropriate materials. Among the major root causes are malnutrition and the lack of localised concerted efforts.
Together with the public schools, parents, local government units, volunteer teachers, corporate partners we work together ins achieving .
By localising the efforts in the Barangay and community level, starting with at least one thousand locations across thew country, we are able to break down a massive crisis into bite-size convergence points.

What a lovely way to support our environment and the people living in it!
Give to our various projects here at gk-usa.org to continue spreading hope for our communities’ futures!
Last July 4, Executive Director of GK USA Carol Tulud, along with Ms. Tampa - Florida Savannah Young, her mother Irene Young, and Area Services Director Evelyn Fullerton from GK Oklahoma visited GK Luzant Porac in Pampanga and GK McCool Moncada in Tarlac!
They were able to visit the communities and got to know more about their needs and experiences. They were able to talk to the children, parents, elders, and the GK Consuelo Dance Troupe!
It is important to get to know our communities to practice camaraderie with them and to let them know that we are with them. 🫂

🏁 Celebrating Philippine Independence: Racing to End Hunger with Bianca Bustamante and Chocolates! 🏁
As we commemorate Philippine Independence this June, we celebrate not only our nation's freedom but also the inspiring efforts of Filipinos like Bianca Bustamante. Born in Laguna and now living in California, USA, Bianca is a proud Filipina-American (Fil-Am) making waves in the world of motorsports, excelling in a male-dominated field.
In honor of her heritage and to give back to her homeland, Bianca uses her platform to make a meaningful impact. She has partnered with Marsatta Chocolate to launch a special line of ube chocolate bars—a homage to one of the Philippines' delicacies. Her goal is not to profit from this venture but to make a difference.
Selling them for $14.75 each, Bianca is committed to helping her homeland by donating all profits to Kusina ng Kalinga, a program under Gawad Kalinga aimed at alleviating hunger and malnutrition among Filipino children and communities. Just days after launching, Bianca has sold over 300 bars. She shares, "A sincere thank you for supporting this cause, this truly means so much to me and to everyone back home in the Philippines."

Happy Thanksgiving, dear GK USA Family!
In this Season for Sharing, here is a heartfelt message from GK USA's Chairman, Dr. Carlos Capati.
"As we look forward to the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, we count our blessings, and as always, we contemplate sharing these blessings with the less fortunate. Not only do these sharings fill our hearts with gladness. Even more consequential is the impact on the poor recipients who could use every bit of help, no matter how small. What may be small for us could be lifesaving for them."

From humble beginnings to becoming a beacon of hope! Meet Mark Gomez, a village beneficiary and recipient of GK's SAGIP - Sagipin Ang Galing, Isip at Pangarap (Save their Talent, Minds and Dreams) Program. In the simple joys of childhood - playing, laughing, and sharing snacks - volunteers planted seeds of dreams. These seemingly small gestures meant the world to kids like Mark. Today, Mark's journey is a testament to the power of resilience and community support.
In the face of hunger and hardship, Mark pushed through with perseverance. Guided by the presence and generosity of GK Partners, he not only conquered poverty but soared to new heights. Now, Mark serves as GK's Area Team Leader for Calabarzon and NCR, paying forward the kindness he once received.
As we celebrate the children of the world, join us in spreading the message that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to change lives, especially during the children's formative years.
