Individuals and business owners in counties included in the President’s Disaster declaration(see list below) who sustained losses can begin applying for FEMA Individual and Household Assistance by registering online.

APPLY FOR ASSISTANCE: www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362 or 1-800-462-7585.

Assistance may include:
• Funds for temporary housing while you are unable to live in your home, such as rental assistance, or reimbursement for hotel costs
• A temporary housing unit, if approved for the disaster, when you are not able to use rental assistance due to a lack of available housing resources
• Funds to support the repair or replacement of owner-occupied homes that serve as the household’s primary residence, including privately-owned access routes, such as driveways, roads, or bridges
• Funds for other uninsured or under-insured disaster-caused expenses and serious needs, such as repair or replacement of personal property and vehicles, or funds for moving and storage, medical, dental, child care, funeral, and other miscellaneous items approved by your state, territory, or tribal government

TEXAS WINTER STORM 2021- A frozen water pipe can burst causing flooding. Unfortunately these are the calls FEMA is currently receiving on their end.
• There is a FEMA app available where people can request assistance once it is Federally authorized
If eligible for Transitional Sheltering Assistance, FEMA will pay the cost to stay in certain lodging providers for a limited period. Costs covered are for the cost of the room and taxes, and any other expenses are not included. Search the list below of participating locations to see if they have availability in the area you have selected. Since room availability changes quickly, please call the lodging provider prior to travelling to be sure the lodging provider can accommodate your need.

Texas Winter Storm Resource -AFAS- AIR FORCE AID SOCIETY
Due to the unbelievable record breaking temperatures affecting many areas around the country these past several days which have caused power / water outages, bursting pipes and displacement of families, the Air Force Aid Society has put measures in place to help those affected by the cold weather snap.
Air Force Aid is available for consideration of Airmen / Guardian emergency financial needs caused by this wave of cold weather for such things as short-term hotel stays, additional food needs, other basic living expenses or emergency needs in which no resources are available.
AFAS may provide up to a $500.00 grant for those affected.
Please refer any Airmen / Guardians affected by this situation to the AFAS.org website, under the Emergency Assistance section to apply for the program. Please note: Applicants who have not previously registered must first do so; others can log-in with existing Username / Password combinations, if used previously.
At this time, eligibility includes:
• Active duty Air Force members
• Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve personnel on extended active duty over 15 days under Title 10, USC (assistance is limited to emergencies incidental to, or resulting from applicant’s active duty tour)
• Air National Guard personnel on Title 32 USC 502(f) Full-Time Active Guard Reserve (ANG) orders (Initial or Continuation Tour Only)

An application must be completed and any supporting documentation must be uploaded (i.e. hotel bill, picture of busted pipes {homeowner insurance would cover in most cases, but Service Members may need help with paying Deductibles}, other basic living expenses), etc. Once complete, click “Submit” application

The Federal Employee Education and Assistance (FEEA) Fund offers disaster relief grants to eligible federal employees when disaster strikes. Civilian Airmen who may be struggling financially, can apply for a grant up to $500 in disaster relief for assistance from FEEA by completing the application located on the website at: https://feea.org/our-programs/disaster-relief/

AF Reservists! In partnership with the Association of Defense Communities, Blue Star Families has launched the COVID-19 Military Support Initiative (CMSI) to establish a clearinghouse for vetted, official information both to and from military and veteran families about benefits, as well as evolutions in the pandemic’s progress and the nation’s fight to stop it. The COVID-19 Military Support Initiative (CMSI) provides resources and expertise to support communities, states and military families through this crisis, including:
• Providing comprehensive coverage of the crisis through a new daily publication that will build on ADC’s widely-read On Base daily newsletter
• Hosting Virtual Town Halls on the key issues impacting our military, defense communities and military families during the crisis
• Convening Military Community and Family Organizations and experts to identify and advance best practices and policy solutions
• Create a repository to capture and document best practices and lessons-learned

BLUF: Blue Star Families COVID-19 Military Support Initiative was established to provide resources and support for communities, states and military families through this crisis.
