Working Dog Wednesday: A military working dog assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron participates in a simulated tactical combat casualty care evaluation at an undisclosed location within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, June 26, 2024. MWDs play an integral role in explosive detection and protection across the installation.
Career Field Manager CMSgt Gallagher recognized the 154th Security Forces Squadron (SFS) out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam as the Air Reserve Component Command Unit of the Year. CMSgt Gallagher also visited with the 647th SFS to learn about how the unit is prioritizing base defense.

Moody Airmen demonstrate readiness during a simulated active shooter exercise
Airmen assigned to the 23rd Security Forces Squadron clear a room at Moody Air Force Base Georgia, June 20, 2024. Security forces were the first to respond to the simulated active shooter scene and neutralize the threat. The goal of the exercise was to assess and improve base personnel and security forces’ actions and response to an active shooter incident.

U.S. Air Force service members attached to the 51st Security Forces Squadron, Osan Air Base, South Korea, engage in a tactical assault simulation at the Pacific Regional Training Center-Andersen, Guam. Fifteen teams across the Pacific Air Forces competed against each other during a week-long Advanced Combat Fitness Assessment Competition hosted by the 736th SFS.

Brig Gen(s) Brian A. Filler was announced as the 27th Director of Security Forces, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection. He is the focal point for ensuring base defense, the physical security of Air Force nuclear assets and planning, and programming for more than 43,000 Active-Duty and Reserve Component members worldwide. He provides policy and oversight for protecting Air Force resources from terrorism, criminal acts, sabotage, and acts of war. Brig Gen(s) Filler also ensures that Defenders are trained, equipped and ready to support contingency and exercise plans in support of the Department of the Air Force’s Great Power Competition missions.
“Defenders have an important role to play in Great Power Competition,” Brig Gen(s) Filler said. “I am confident we will rise to tomorrow’s challenges to support the greatest Air Force in the world.”

Brig Gen(s) Filler, who assumed the post on 15 July, said, “I look forward to serving with and representing the 43,000 Total Force Defenders worldwide. I will work tirelessly to serve Defenders standing watch around the globe.”
