Do you experience this? 👇🏻

It is actually more common than you probably think!

😢 Do you cry easily?

🧑🏻‍⚕️ You may want to talk to a healthcare professional about PBA.

⚕️ Pseudobulbar affect (PBA) is a medical condition. It causes episodes of crying of laughing that may be unpredictable. Sometimes it is called emotional lability.

🧠 It is caused by damage to an area of the brain. Many stroke survivors have PBA.

One of our neuro groups independently decided to plan an end of the semester Thanksgiving potluck party!

✅They made invites and delivered them to the other groups who come on Tuesdays.

✅They made sure all the food spread was covered.

✅Even had decorations and a game with prizes!

Thank you to all for a wonderful semester!

Hey y’all, my name is Rebecca Hays! 👋🏼

I'm from Slidell, Louisiana 🏡

Some of my favorite things to do when I'm not studying include spending time with my 2 dogs Skippy & Mowgli 🐶🐾, traveling with my fiancé to new places 🚗 hiking 🏔, white water rafting 🚣🏼, eating good food in the French Quarter 🍲, and spending time with my family 😄

My favorite part about working with the aphasia groups is hearing everyone's unique stories 📚. My clients have shown me each and every session what it means to be resilient 💪🏽. They teach me something new and prove that communication is so much more than just the words that we speak 🗣

I am so lucky to be a part of their journey 😁

Hey, everyone!
👋🏻 My name is Sarah Elise LeBlanc

🏠 I am from New Iberia, Louisiana

🤩 My hobbies include reading 📖 , learning new things 🧠, traveling 🧭 , skydiving ✈️ , and experiencing new foods/restaurants 👩🏻‍🍳

♥️ My favorite thing about speech pathology is the opportunity I am given to take my passions of creative problem solving, learning new things, and helping others and use them to help clients in a meaningful way. Most of the people I see come to speech therapy during a period of transition in their lives. During this time, we figure out communication 🗣in their situation together.

They are creating their own way in the world 🌎, and I get invited to experience figuring life out alongside them!

Thank you all for helping me find my passion!

🏡Bunkie, LA

❤️favorite things to do are spending time with my family and friends👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, reading books 📚(especially binge reading during semester breaks), and walking my dog 🐶, Opie.

My favorite part about working with adults has been getting to know my client and each person in our group. I love talking and building relationships with clients! I leave every session inspired by my/our client’s resilience and hard work. 🏋🏼‍♀️

Fun fact: I originally wanted to be a 👩‍⚕️ 💊nurse. Almost 4 years later, I couldn’t be happier to have found this profession!

10/20/2021

We believe therapy should be client led and centered around what works for the client’s life. 🏡

One of our groups🫂 has been focusing on strengths they see in their peers and in themselves. 💪🏻🏋🏼‍♀️

Change happens using positivity and affecting each person and how they handle their own self. ✨

Strength-based approach allows for habitable conditions for a person to see themselves at their best, in order to see the value they bring, by just being THEM! 🗣

Check out our ever growing list of strengths ❤️
