It’s hard to believe, but we are almost 6 years old! It’s time to raise more funds for Lafayette Community M.I.Brary!
In 2018, after winning funds from 24 Hour Citizen Project, Dr. Ryan Cazares launched our community’s musical instrument library with the help of Lafayette Public Library and Acadiana Center for the Arts. We currently have 40 instruments for check-out at the Clifton Chenier branch of the library.
A few of the instruments are in disrepair or need replacement.
There are 2 ways you can help:
1.) Donate to our GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/f1474d18
2.) Purchase a MIBrary shirt at https://www.bonfire.com/mibrary/ (Not much money raised here, but we always need to get the word out!)
All donations are tax-deductible and go to the ACA.
Thank you for helping support access to musical instruments!

Ever wanted to take a musical instrument for a test drive? Here’s how it works:
•Browse our musical instrument inventory in the library’s catalog
•Check out whichever you like for 4 weeks
•Rock it or knock it!
•When the time is up, return your instrument in its best condition
•Try another instrument to see how it fits
This service is available only at the Chenier Branch of the . You can check out a guitar, keyboard, or even an accordion the same way you would a book. Who knows — maybe we’ll be reading about you next!
Congrats to our pals with the Seed Library!
Check out the Clifton Chenier exhibit at the MIBrary!
A Clifton Chenier exhibit is now at the Clifton Chenier Center located at 220 West Willow Street in Lafayette.
Phase II of this exhibit will include a mural on one of the concrete brick walls, a sign at the West Willow entrance, and painting of the round planter walls. This phase is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
