LPSS is proactively working to understand how we can be better stewards of public funds while supporting the greatest needs for our students’ education. As such, we’ve recently announced the hiring of an independent strategic planner, Civic Solutions Group.

Our work with CSG includes understanding the Lafayette community’s priorities for public schools… and we need YOUR input.

Please take this short, 5-minute survey to help us better serve you and your student(s): https://app.opinionx.co/lpss-community-priorities

HB 320 by Representative Chuck Owen which is known as the “let teachers teach” bill passed the house floor with a vote of 94-9 with LAE support. House Bill 320 calls for BESE to review mandatory teacher trainings and decide which ones will remain and which ones will no longer be required. Rep. Owen and LAE recognize that our teachers are overworked and underpaid. The intent of the bill is to relieve some burden off of our teachers who are overwhelmed and facing burnout. HB 320 now awaits the senate education committee. We will keep you posted as we continue to support this much needed legislation!
