Lex Electrifying Goulas blog! Excellent job Lex! Well, tonight I got to attend the Couture For A Cause: A Designer Fashion Show Audi Lafayette with my mom and grandma, where I got to meet with my friends, watch some lovely ladies walk the stage sporting new fashion, and say a speech that I made about what the D.R.E.A.M.S. FOUNDATION OF ACADIANA means to me!

When we first arrived, I met up with my friends Chandler Mogerman and John Edward Clostio along with his mom Ms. Amie Clostio! I got to meet Ms. Amie’s mom for the first time since she’s never been able to make it to their Halloween parties lately since it feel around the time the Rice Festival was going on! I also asked how Ms. Amie’s dog Luna was (A Siberian Husky that licked my nose and acts spoiled lol!) and Ms. Amie said that she was good! I also told my friends Cameron and Mason hello along with Brie, Logan Watkins, Kourtlyn Heinen, Kayle Cutrer, and loads of others!

Ms. Donielle Gaubert Watkins had assigned John, my friend Gabe, my friend Jonah, and Brie to bring out the new bow tie meat pies that we made specially for this occasion to the guests! My mom and grandma thought that I’d like that job since I like to move and socialize wherever I can lol! But I was given a task of watching Ms. Hope Lanclos’ things, so for about half of the time, I was standing guard like a royal guard from England! I was also having a blast spinning around in the chair, that will NEVER not be fun 😂! I also saw my dance teacher Ms. Lisa M. Breaux!

After a while, I got to go socialize around the V.I.P. section and met up with Ms. Jayme Russo and Ms. Pamela Broussard! My friend Jonah also brought me a mini meat pie, it was the beef with the premium dough (Yellow colored)! I also met up with my friend Ali along with her mom Ms. Melissa Castille Wood! Ali also got to make a speech just before it was my turn!

It took a little longer for the show to get started than expected, but when it started, the music fired up and the lovely ladies came out sporting their fabulous clothes! One by one, we clapped and cheered as they walked to and from the walkway! Some of them had men walk with them across, my grandma said that I would’ve been good with that too! Now what made this part special was that some of these models were a part of the UL Life Program, a big shoutout to them for doing such an awesome job along with the rest!

After a little while came intermission, and when I began to move around again, I met up with Ms. Nicole Sellers, a lady who took part in making all of this possible, so I thanked her for having us there and for what she does, a huge shoutout to her and that man that was with her too, you two along with everyone else that took part in making all of this happen make an awesome team! And something very silly happened this time too, apparently there were two of the model girls peeking through the curtains separating the in between section where they walk through to enter and exit and the auction items and when I saw them at the corner of my eye, I turned in their direction and said “Huh?” and then when they saw me, they quickly got startled and jumped back lol! I overheard them laughing on the other end 😂! And one time I walked back to the entrance and it turns out some of them were coming through that way to come towards the walkway, so when I walked through, I accidentally scared one of them lol! I apologized to her and she was laughing along with me!

After intermission, the other half of the fashion show began with more lovely ladies sporting fabulous clothing! We clapped and cheered as usual just like the last time, but this time, shortly before it ended, Ali and I had to head behind the big screen because it was almost our time to shine! My friend Mason walked with Ali and Cameron acted like our bodyguard lol!

After the last models finished walking, Ms. Donielle got to walk up along with Mason, Ali, Cameron, and I! Now was our time to shine! We began with Ms. Donielle’s story about how D.R.E.A.M.S. all began with Logan watching a baseball game and asking “When do I get to play?”, it took Ms. Donielle and Mr. Brian D. Watkins a lot of hard work and planning along with the help of some very close people, but they began the foundation with baseball for those with special needs! And then Logan asked about doing basketball lol! So then more and more activities began coming and coming, from sports to Camp Unique and many other things, and it was thanks to these wonderful people that I am the man that I am today!

Next up was Ali’s turn! Her story was about how the doctors told her mother that she would never be able to speak, show emotions, or pretty much anything like that, but then she used her loud voice and shouted “But they were WRONG!” like a cheerleader as she kicked her foot out lol (Isn’t she on the cheer team?)! Yes, those doctors were incorrect, she’s got a loud and proud voice, she’s energetic, and has a heart of gold, and we’re proud to have her in the big happy D.R.E.A.M.S. family!

And last but not least, it was my turn! My speech is in the comments below, be sure to check it out! I spoke as well as I could, talking about how I started off as someone who was more introverted because of all the bullying that I was put through, and how D.R.E.A.M.S. turned it all around and made me someone who is loved for who he truly is! I also saw some of the model’s information on the D.R.E.A.M.S. page, talking about their hobbies and such, so I decided to add my own to my speech! I talked about my love for video games, my love for dance (Ballet especially 🩰) , and seeing as how much applause and compliments I got after I was finished, it was like music to my ears, because that’s the sound of joy that I managed to create!

After I walked off along with Ali and the rest, one of the models complimented me on my speech along with a couple of men and I thanked them all! I also got to take a picture with Ms. Lafayette! And I also got another compliment from another model that I met named Erika! Erika, if you’re reading this, you and all the rest of the models did amazing tonight, you’re all beautiful inside and out and very gifted at what you all do, never forget that!

After that, it was time for me to head out, and it seemed like I wasn’t the only one because my friends Gabe and Chandler were also heading out! My mom, grandma and I got to eat at Chick Fil A and I got to listen to my go to radio station on Sirius XM Symphony Hall all the way back home! It plays classical music such as Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, etc., it relaxes me and it’s just nice to listen to! My mom once told me that she played a lot of it when I was a baby because there was a theory about how it would make your child smart, maybe that’s how it grew on me!

But now that I’m back home after a refreshing shower, I for one can say that I’m happy that this whole event happened! And what’s cool is that this was the D.R.E.A.M.S. Manufacturing Company’s very first catering job! Judging by how many pies flew off the trays instantly, we seemed to have made a lot of business, which is a very good thing! Another thing I noticed is how respectful everyone was over there, they were all silent when we were talking and they listened until we were finished! I was a little nervous about mentioning my love for ballet at first because I was afraid some would laugh a bit (Which would be ironic considering not only do many athletes such as NFL players do ballet to keep their legs strong, (One of the NFL stars was seen leaping like a ballet dancer, which allowed him to dodge two other players charging at him, and he made a touchdown as a result!), but historically, ballet was a men only thing until the first ballerina took the stage! And Spider-Man’s actor Tom Holland also does ballet and look at how flexible he is, doing all of these backflips and acrobatic moves!), but nope, they were all respectful, and for that, I’m deeply grateful! I felt like I was back on that stage after my dance recital again, the crowd roaring with applause and that happy feeling you have listening to it, like I said before, it was music to my ears, and being on stage just makes me happy in general! So I want to thank everyone that came out tonight and made this event possible, all you retailers, the car company that allowed this event (A big thank you to whoever put that rolling chair that spins at the front desk at the entrance, I had a blast with it 😂), all the models, fashion companies, D.R.E.A.M.S. family members, and everyone else that came, thank you all for making this night fun and fancy! Now I need to rest up, because tomorrow is a big day for me! I have to help my grandparents with some cleaning, Fortnite gets a Halloween update tomorrow (Gabe and I are both hyped for it!), and the new Dragon Ball anime releases tomorrow! And be sure to lookout for my next blog about LARC Acadian Village’s Treats at the Village, to those that are going, be sure to look for Sonic the Hedgehog (My costume), racing to the village this coming Monday! 🎮💍🦔🏃💨 Melissa Gaubert - Realtor, Life Coach & Notary Public Griffen DeJean Nicole Sellers

History of the D.R.E.A.M.S. Foundation of Acadiana

D.R.E.A.M.S. Foundation of Acadiana was the furthest thing from Donielle and Brian’s mind when they were pregnant with their first child it was not even a thought. Donielle and Brian Watkins had a normal pregnancy for their son Logan. During the pregnancy, they didn’t think it was necessary to find out if Logan was going to have a disability or birth defects. Donielle had been taking the right vitamins and doing everything a mother should do when pregnant, so what could go wrong? Then the time finally came…time to have a baby!

Everything was going as planned, until they didn’t hear the first cry…Logan wasn’t breathing. The nurses and doctors took him to the ICU for further treatment. At that time, Donielle and Brian weren’t told anything. It was scary for them not to know what was wrong. But from Donielle’s perspective now, that was better for her in the long run. Donielle says, “God knows what I can handle, and he knew that me not knowing during the pregnancy was they only way for me to take the news and handle the situation at the same time.”

Logan was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, a birth defect in which a developing baby’s spinal cord fails to develop properly. The family had to accept a lot and did but Logan was not so accepting. He wanted to do anything and everything which made the family realize they needed to do more with him. Anything Logan wanted to do, they tried to help him achieve it.

Logan wanted to be involved, just like any other child. Brian went to a Boy Scout leader and told him about Logan. The scout leader told him that anyone was welcome, and that they would accommodate him, it was that easy! Well, it was harder than they thought. He couldn’t go ice skating, or hiking, or walk up 3 flights of stairs to get to the meetings. He joined a Cub Scouts program for kids like Logan. Brian took over and he would spend hours a day accommodating to every child’s needs. It turned out to be a great program! And at the same time, Logan wanted to play sports, so he also got involved in special needs Topps soccer.
