Starting today, the 700 block of Lafayette Street and 600 block of Congress Street in Downtown Lafayette will be temporarily closed for infrastructure upgrades. Thank you for your patience, and don't forget to plan ahead if you're visiting the area!
On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) will begin sewer repairs on the 700 block of Lafayette Street and 600 block of Congress Street. As a result, the southbound lane of Lafayette Street and the westbound side sidewalk, parking spots, and bike lane of Congress Street will be closed. The project will take approximately two weeks to complete – with expected working hours from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
To avoid potential traffic delays, motorists who frequent the affected area are advised to take South Washington Street instead of Lafayette Street or to incorporate additional time into their schedules. In addition, motorists are urged to be mindful of worker safety when traveling through this area. For updates, please subscribe to the Outage & Events Map at https://www.lus.org/map/.
