I help companies grow by handling all their leasing and real estate matters. I primarily represent tenants in negotiating retail, restaurant, fitness studio, entertainment, office, and industrial/warehouse leases. Since 1999, my practice also includes general commercial real estate, land use, conservation, and natural resource law. I also advise land owners and buyers. Clients have ranged from entrepreneur start-ups to Fortune Top 10 companies and include retailers, restaurants, fitness and entertainment companies, multinationals, and manufacturers. I have handled roughly 800 leases and 300 property sales in all 50 states, with a total value above $2 billion. I was selected as a “40 Under Forty Illinois Attorneys” in 2011. Our firm was selected as a 2018 "Best of the Best" in the region by Midwest Real Estate News, making it one of the top 40 law firms in the region. I also represent athletes on sports law matters.

Formerly a partner in a large national firm, I believe that clients should receive a fair price for high quality legal services. I published Tenant Leasing 101 in 2014, now on Amazon. I write a sports law column for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. My writing is published nationally. I was the Editor-in-Chief of a magazine and an editor of a legal newspaper from '96-99. I also handled communications and p.r. for a professional cycling team.

My wife, from coastal Georgia, and I reside in suburban Chicago with our two children, ages 6 and 8. Hobbies include cycling, politics, skiing, and the outdoors.
