Our Active Agers are at the Jimmy John's Baseball Game tonight! A huge thank you to Waste Management for being our generous sponsor!
to a couple of weeks back when our active aging adventurers explored the Saugatauk Dunes and Lake Orion's days of yore through a historic boat tour!
We're sharing some yearling fun facts to go with the flock of feathered friends we're featuring this ! (We estimate these little guys to be eight to twelve weeks old!)
1. Baby turkeys are called poults.
2. Within hours of being born, poults learn to peck at food by mimicking their mothers' behavior.
3. By week two, they can fly short distances.
4. By week three, poults can roost (settle, or congregate for sleep) in trees with their moms (aka hens).
5. By week fourteen, you can tell the difference between male and female poults.
6. Poults are usually born in early June and, by the beginning of winter, they'll have reached their full size.

Our final session of Amazing Athletes Summer Camp in Monday, August 12th-Wednesday, August 15th!
Amazing Athletes Camps are the premier developmental physical fitness camps empowering children to reach developmental milestones at an individual pace.
Through our structured active play, Amazing Athletes advance 6 key areas of Motor-Development. During our 45 minute daily, one-week camps, children learn the importance of patience, teamwork, and self-confidence in a non-competitive, learning-based environment that fosters a love of healthy living. Their excitement for structured physical activity promotes advancements and advantages that keep children on the path to personal well-being.
Our fun, active camps encourage kids to explore and develop a variety of athletic skills through the introduction of 10 different sports. Coaches break the fundamentals of each sport-based skill down into simple steps based on each child’s age and ability.
Location: Open area south of pavilion, west of Miracle Field.

This week on we're looking at predators. A predator is an animal that hunts or preys on other animals in order to survive. They use various techniques to catch their food, including chasing, stalking, ambushing, or teamwork. Predators tend to have heightened senses of vision, hearing, and/or smell. Here, we have a Blue Heron that has successfully stalked his prey using nocturnal vison and a Coyote that is chasing down some Turkeys.
