Our Latin dance classes provide boys and girls will learn to socialize in a fun way, build confidence, develop self-esteem, and for some children it's an opportunity to explore their cultural heritage. Dancers will learn technique and movement of Bachata, Salsa and Bomba Y Plena!

These community leaders will be paired with professional Latin dance instructors to showcase their talents and support the Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County .

Spencer Shambaugh is the Recreation Specialist at Recreation Commission. Having lived in Lancaster over 10 years, Spencer has developed a strong love for the 𝐮ℕ𝐈ɊⓤẸ 𝓒𝓞мϻยηⓘ𝓉ｙ that is Lancaster. Having gone to Millersville University for Secondary Education, he found himself working for the Lancaster Family YMCA running overnight summer camps. After changes brought on by Covid, he found himself needing to pivot on his career path while still 🅴🅽🅶🅰🅶🅸🅽🅶 with the community. Lancaster Rec aligned with his ideas of community and has amazing events such as Open Streets, Lancaster Beer Gardens, Rec-tober Fest and more. Spencer also sits on the Parks and Realms Committee for SoWe neighborhood community group, helping to connect neighbors to one another.

Jennifer Diaz is the Executive Director for ʟᴇᴀᴅᴇʀꜱʜɪᴘ ʟᴀɴᴄᴀꜱᴛᴇʀ. She has spent three decades working with non-profit organizations and is passionate about helping leaders uncover their purpose and passion. Jennifer is a writer, storyteller and motivational speaker. She has a degree in social work and her years working in this profession have ignited her desire to help individuals step into the “next” best version of themselves.

When Jennifer was eight years old, she sat in a darkened theater in New York City to watch her very first Broadway show. The minute the curtain rose, the orchestra swelled and the character shoes lifted along with the voices, Jennifer knew she had found her way “home.” Music continues to be a 🆅🅸🅱🆁🅰🅽🆃 part of her core and connection throughout life.
