After 2 weeks I broke down & bought a new pair of glasses. The very next day my missing glasses showed up under my desk exactly where my feet had been 5 minutes earlier!

Today I am grateful for car insurance! I get to pick up my fixed car which had damage from being hit by a tire explosion. The the bill was hefty for the repair but I only $250 for my share!

I went outside to sit with Ginger ignoring my night blindness issues. My cell flashlight helped me see the stair & the chair. Once settled while looking at the stars, I yelled as something bit my toe. IMade it inside without falling up the stairs to find a puncture mark & a bleeding toe. I have no idea what bit me but no more star gazing for me! 🤦🏼‍♀️😜💫

Happy 4th my friends!

In America, today is a Holiday that all Americans grow up celebrating. Traditions of celebrating shared before you are even old enough to understand what a tradition is. Family, friends, food & fireworks is the memories this day brings for me.

Without even thinking about it, this year I planned my 4th of July meal based on tradition…barbecued spare ribs, tuna macaroni salad, corn on the cob & strawberry shortcake for desert. It’s a lot of work but I allowed auto pilot & this tradition to lead. After preparing the sides with a sense of sadness, realized I enjoy that meal on the 4th because of the memories of who I shared it with. That no longer applies in my life so why was I bothering? With an odd sense of release I shifted mid prep to make a meal I love instead.

I was feeling melancholy because the food is the only part of the learned tradition that currently applies. That, along with an unexpected blast from the past reminding me of those no longer in my life was making me sad. All because I have an expectation around holidays & family (expectations are just beliefs, that doesn’t mean they’re true). 

You see, this week It’s just me & Ginger (the dog). It seems the traditional meal on this particular day (along with an unexpected reminder of those who chose to leave my life) came with unconscious expectations of what the day should be. Those expectations & unexpected reminder triggered a patterned response of feeling “not enough” in me. Once I realized I was getting pulled into an old pattern I decided to choose differently . I chose what would bring me joy; my favorite summer meal, a grilled rib eye steak with corn on the cob. It was delicious- Perfectly cooked medium rare…and Ginger waited for her share patiently 😁

The planned & prepped 4th of July meal will be even better tomorrow when “Fred” (anyone who has had a session with me understands who “Fred” is😁) & what’s “lacking” isn’t triggered by who & what is missing. In truth, most days those memories & those who have chosen to leave aren’t even in my conscious realm of thought. I guess the “expectations” of what holidays bring needed the illumination so they could be acknowledged for what they truly are; what others taught me to believe make me worthy of being loved! Who knew a distance memory & a traditional holiday meal could take me down a rabbit hole of self-doubt? 🤷🏼‍♀️. Thankfully I was able to remember my truth before the old beliefs could derail me. 😜😁😊

Today, As our country celebrates the Freedom this day symbolizes, I am grateful for the freedom that self awareness brings to release old beliefs that no longer serve me.

Who knew personal freedom from old expectations of holidays & family would be today’s theme.

Hey Folks your political affiliation doesn’t make you more “right” or a better person. It’s the way you treat others who think & live differently than you that truly shows your merit & worth!

Did anyone else just feel the earth shake? 😁

5am & I’ve yet to go to bed! Should prove to be an interesting event today! By the way you can still get tickets at the door!
