Our 12th annual celebration, , kicked off with a parade from City Hall and continued on the Parkway with over a thousand people in attendance! It was beautiful to see so many amazing people having fun, chatting, and enjoying the day! We want to give a special shout out to Sheila Hess for being an amazing emcee! We heard from State Reps Tarik S. Khan and Joseph Hohenstein, Voting Commissioner LISA MARIE DEELEY, Liberty Resources Inc CEO Thomas Earle, Comcast’s Meghan Mirsch, Highmark Wholecare Jennifer Rogers, The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies’s Germán Parodi, and Disability Rights Pennsylvania’s Alicia Ingiosi.

We rocked out to by Simon Bonenfant with Jeremy Raves and Black Cat Habitat; but missed out on Gooch and the Motion, and Ryan Gilfillian.

Thank you to the Caravan for Disability Justice and Freedom for spending the day with us! They spoke about voting issues that affect the disability community and telling the Pennsylvania disability history timeline.

Our day came to a screeching halt as a wild wind and rain storm came blaring down the street. We hope everyone made it home safely. If you are missing anything, we have a small box of items.

Special thank you the amazing , to those of you that stayed to help, and passerby’s that pitched in. It reminds us that there are amazing people in our city. Thank you to City of Philadelphia’s Office of Special Events, the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the Philadelphia Streets Dept for helping us make the space safe and enjoyable for all. Also to the news sources who helped to spread the word about our event and access!

Thank you Councilmember Rue Landau for a great photo!

Thank you for visiting Rep. Tim Brennan!

Yesterday, I got to take up Mary Ellen Brogan’s offer to visit and learn about Woods Services, where she serves as a director, after meeting her at my Disability Resource Fair back in May. I’m so glad to know this outstanding organization is here to provide crucial services for people in our community with disabilities. I learned about their three outpatient programs – medical, dental & behavioral health – and the many additional ways they use evidenced-based treatments and a public health approach to empower people with even the most complex needs. I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to show me around!

We invite you to read the latest commentary by Guest Co-Editors Dr. Sailaja Musunuri, Executive Vice President of Integrative Medicine and Chief of Psychiatry, and Tine Hansen-Turton, President and CEO of Woods System of Care, as they provide a global perspective on the "Education for Health Journal's" new series on mental health. While advances in neurophysiology have improved diagnostic and treatment options, stigma and access issues continue to prevent many individuals from seeking necessary care. It is vital to elevate voices from around the world on these critical issues. Read the full article here:
