PCAC is back at it tomorrow (Tuesday, 12/1)! We are joining forces with the District's Parent Academy at 5:30 for a presentation about how to get involved with the District before our regular meeting at 6 pm.

Our regular meeting will feature:

1) A presentation from L*D staff about Career Preparation and adult education programs (including a special presentation about the Lansing Fire Science Academy offered to Lansing students through a partnership with the Lansing Fire department).

2) Information and discussion about a new attendance initiative in the district.

3) PCAC Leadership Elections! Are you looking for a way to be more involved in the District? Would you like to help shape PCAC agendas and discussions? Consider joining our executive board and help make a difference.

4) Discussion about any COVID updates. We also welcome the opportunity to hear your feedback, questions, or concerns about how virtual learning is going, and what we should all be paying attention to for the upcoming spring semester.

Sharing an email sent by the District earlier this week with information about how to provide feedback and get information about the Screen-to-Screen learning plan for the first marking period this fall:

The Lansing School District is looking for your input on our Return to School plan for the Fall of the 2020-21 school year.
As you may have heard by now, the Lansing School District is going Screen-to-Screen for the first marking period and we want your input on how this is going affect you and your families.
Please join us for one of our Zoom meetings on Wednesday, July 22nd. We have 3 different sessions available - one at 10:00am, one at 4:00pm, and one at 7:00pm.
The Zoom links to these can be found on our website at www.lansingschools.net or on our page.
If you are unable to attend any of those meetings, we still want to hear from you. You can contact us via the Let's Talk Feature on our website, through any of our school or District pages or send us an email at [email protected]

Happy Summer All!

We hope you are all staying safe and finding some time to enjoy our Michigan summer!

On behalf of PCAC I'd like to let you know of an opportunity to participate in a small group discussion about how the Lansing School District's work is evolving in response to COVID-19 and other important issues. The Focus group will be on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 6:30-8 PM. Spots are limited to foster an engaged discussion, and you can register at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PLG9D7L

The discussion is being hosted by Launch Michigan with support provided by Public Policy Associates (a Lansing-based research firm helping to gather community perspectives. Organizers hope to work closely with some of our parents to gather information and help us all, including the district, meet the challenges COVID-19 has created.

Pursuant to the Governor's directive that schools will be closed for the remainder of the year, we are cancelling our April and May PCAC meetings.

In the meantime, please look to the District's main website (www.lansingschools.net) and the District's COVID update page (http://www.lansingschools.net/parents/coronavirus/) for information about how to access technology, internet service and other resources to facilitate remote learning.

PCAC will be back in the fall with a new slate of meetings to bring your questions and concerns to the District, and to share information about all of the innovative programs Lansing Schools has to offer.

We hope you and your families are staying home, staying safe, and keeping well!

The first meeting of the school year will be held at the new Pattengill Biotechnical Magnet School on September 25th from 6:30-8 p.m. The focus of this meeting will be the Lansing Pathway Promise Bond construction and a tour of the new Pattengill school.

PCAC is a district wide council consisting of parents, teachers, principals, and community members who come together on a monthly basis to discuss parents' interests, concerns, and to share important district information.

Any parent/guardian of a Lansing School District student as well as community leaders and citizens of the Greater Lansing Area can attend.

You will have the opportunity to provide important input to leaders in the Lansing School District.
