Be sure to talk with a CIT Program advisor at least twice per year. Many of the professors in your classes can advise you on next steps.

LCC is investigating a potential cybersecurity event. The college will resume some classes and work next week.

The Mid-Michigan Police Academy, Fire Academy, Corrections Academy, Aviation Technology courses in Mason, and all scheduled clinicals will continue on Monday, March 20.

All other face-to-face classes (including hybrid sections with face-to-face meetings) will be held as scheduled beginning Tuesday, March 21. Faculty, please be prepared to teach without D2L, Webex or email. You can use your LCC laptop and equipment.

All online, online real-time, and HyFlex classes are paused until further notice. This includes online High School Advantage classes.

Internet, email and college systems like D2L will remain unavailable until further notice.

Buildings will be open during regular hours, with StarCard access.

The Library, StarZone, Learning Commons and other student support areas will be open as scheduled beginning Monday, March 20, to assist students. Some services that require access to college systems might not be available.

Beginning Monday, all staff, non-teaching faculty, and student employees are to report to their on-campus work area, following their regular work schedule. You can use your LCC laptop and equipment, but do not expect internet, email, D2L, Banner and other college systems to function.

Employees who cannot work without internet might be asked to assist in areas that need additional support. Please contact your supervisor if you have questions.

KNOW YOUR CYBER BASICS
• Use Strong Passwords: Use passwords that are long, unique, and randomly generated. Use password managers to generate and remember different, complex passwords for each of your accounts. A password manager will encrypt passwords securing them for you!
• Enable Multi-Factor Authentication: You need more than a password to protect your online accounts, and enabling MFA makes you significantly less likely to get hacked.

KNOW YOUR CYBERSECURITY BASICS
• Think Before You Click: Recognize and Report Phishing: If a link looks a little off, think before you click. It could be an attempt to get sensitive information or install malware.
• Update Your Software: Don’t delay – if you see a software update notification, act promptly. Better yet, turn on automatic updates.
