Resident physicians at Detroit Medical Center aren't letting their employers' anti-union efforts stop them from fighting for themselves and their patients.

ID: Teal graphic with white text that reads, “For years, Tenet has prioritized profits over patient care. This approach undermines the oath we took as physicians: to do no harm. They continue to delay working directly with their employees on issues they have caused. We formed our union to be better able to advocate for ourselves and our patients who have profits valued more than them.” --Justin Bria, ARP DMC President, on anti-union action taken by Detroit Medical Center’s owner

Everyone should be able to get the reproductive healthcare they need. Project 2025 wants to make that more difficult.

ID: dark colored graphic with white text and red accents. Text reads, “Do you value your reproductive freedom? Project 2025 would:
-Crack down on abortion rights nationwide
-Increase surveillance over patients and doctors
-Create barriers that make accessing birth control more difficult.

Project 2025 could spell disaster for our environment and public health.

ID: Red graphic with white text that reads, "Project 2025 will endanger us all by: Rolling back rules put in place to protect our air and water; Hindering the government's ability to hold corporate polluters accountable; Limiting the influence of scientists in the EPA and letting cronies call the shots

Despite the aggressively anti-tax narrative often pushed by the right, Michiganders understand that when we all agree to pay our fair share, we can make our communities better, brighter, and safer places to live. ☀️

ID: Two graphics, each with light blue text on a dark blue background. The text reads, “This week, Michiganders voted on 1,037 ballot questions. Most were tax proposals to fund important community priorities like parks, roads, and schools. More than 90% passed. Because despite Republicans’ efforts to demonize all taxes, Michiganders recognize the truth: that paying our fair share in taxes helps our communities thrive by funding critical public goods and services like parks, libraries, fire departments, and mental healthcare.”

Enough Ottawa Impact commissioners lost their primaries that they are certain to lose their majority on the board—and we love to see it.

ID: Two graphics with a dark red background and white text that reads, “Two years ago, a right-wing group called Ottawa Impact took control of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners. Now, Ottawa County voters are taking their power back. While in power, these commissioners held meetings behind closed doors and tried to fire a County Health Officer without cause. Them losing their majority is a win for transparency, ethics, and good government.

Greedy corporations are raking in more profits than ever, but their workers aren't the ones benefiting. Working people deserve better than this.

ID: A series of graphics. The first two, combined, read, "Since the pandemic, corporate CEOs and shareholders have raked in major profits and rather than increase wages for everyday Americans they've used tax incentives and profits to enrich themselves through stock buybacks. Stock buybacks are when a company buys its own shares from people who own them. This can make each remaining share worth more and can be a way for the company to spend incentives provided by the government, rather than using the money to reduce prices or increase wages. !2 more graphics are included, displaying the large gap between CEO pay and average worker pay at these companies: Apple, Coca-Cola, Ford, GM, McDonald's, Meta, PepsiCo, Pfizer, Target, Uber, Walmart

Text on the second graphic reads, "POLL: 83% of Michiganders support the Biden administration's recently proposed rules to ensure workers are better protected against heat-related injuries by requiring employers to provide water and rest breaks when there are high temperatures.

Project 2025 is bad news for farmers, rural communities, and anyone who eats food.

ID: Set of graphics that features images of produce and rural scenery alongside text that, all together, reads, “What you need to know about Project 2025’s impact on U. S. food, agricultural systems, and rural communities. Project 2025 would remove more than 25 million acres of land nationwide from conservation programs. Project 2025 proposes cuts to nutrition assistance and imposes barriers that will prevent poor and working folks from accessing these programs. Project 2025 would let corporations call the shots within the National Forest Service and Department of Agriculture. These moves would harm the environment and increase wealth inequality.

Disinformation can spread quickly in breaking news situations. Make sure you aren’t part of the problem.

Don’t trust stories that cite another news outlet as the source of the information. 4. Pay attention to the language the media uses. 5. Look for news outlets close to the incident. 6. Compare multiple sources. 7. Big news brings out the fakers and the photoshoppers. 8. Beware of reflexive posting—some of this is on you.

Michiganders want an open and transparent state government. Expanding our FOIA laws to cover the Governor's office and legislature is a critical need. The Senate did its job in passing FOIA reform, now it's time for the House to do the same!

07/29/2024

The U.S. Supreme Court conservative majority has been busy and based on our latest Lake Effect poll, Michiganders are not fans.

55% oppose a recent ruling that took decision-making power out of the hands of experts, while just 35% support it. Turns out hamstringing the EPA, OSHA, the FDA and other federal agencies’ ability to protect everyday Americans from greedy corporations who don’t care about pollution or protecting their workers as long as they’re making a profit isn’t popular.

And turning our president into a monarch by declaring they're above the law? We don’t like that either. 53% disapprove of this SCOTUS ruling and just 38% support it.

We can’t let this right-wing agenda become reality.

ID: Text on a dark background reads, “Project 2025 is racist, full stop. The plan would:
-End the Fair Housing Act, legalizing discrimination
-Fire public employees who have participated in DEI trainings
-Censor discussions of history and current events in schools

By signing onto the dangerous, right-wing agenda outlined in Project 2025, the Mackinac Center has given up any credibility they might have had as a moderate, reasonable voice in the policy process.

Our full statement: https://progressmichigan.org/2024/07/mackinac-center-contributed-to-dangerous-project-2025-policy-platform/

ID: A quote attributed to PM Executive Director Sam Inglot reads, "And now, the Mackinac Center has revealed what they truly are—a far-right asset that is willing to throw their weight behind an extremist agenda with no regard for the vulnerable people who will become collateral damage in their fight to protect corporations and the wealthy. It's time for all of us—public officials, the media, and the public—to recognize that."

Trump and co. have filed yet another bogus lawsuit designed to disenfranchise voters...Is anyone shocked?

Their complaint: That Governor Whitmer is empowering other government departments, like the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Small Business Administration to help Michiganders register to vote. This move is 100% legal, and the only people who would have a problem with it are those who want to make voting more difficult.

ID: The left side of this meme shows a visibly upset woman pointing in anger, with text that reads, "Trump filing a lawsuit over efforts to make voting easier. The right side shows a cat looking confused with text that reads, "Governor Whitmer, knowing that these efforts are unproblematic and 100% legal."
