Some thoughts on the trip:
•
The LDS people are some of the greatest people ever. Extremely kind and very willing to talk about faith and God.
•
You can have productive conversations about Jesus if you’re willing to engage in conversation. Listen more than you talk and make it count when you do talk.
•
Provo > Salt Lake City
•
Good theology doesn’t get you to Heaven. Trusting in Jesus alone as the savior of our sins does. Direct people to the biblical gospel and the biblical Jesus first and the rest will unfold. Don’t get caught up on being “right”. Get caught up on showing people the Lord.
•
Loving people doesn’t mean you have to agree with them or celebrate certain differences. But it does mean you have to be kind and patient (1 cor 13) when you disagree.
•
Stepping out of your comfort zone is one of the best ways to grow in your faith. Do you feel stagnant in your faith? When was the last time you trusted God with the outcome of a certain situation? Put yourself in uncomfortable/hard situations and see how to Lord takes care of you. If you never go out on a limb to trust him, you are being the god of your own life and taking control instead of letting God be in control.
•
When doing Gods work, it’s emotionally draining. There’s hard days and fun days but always joyful days.
•
A common comment the LDS people said about Christians was, “they don’t know what they believe.” It’s true. Learn why you trust in Jesus. Learn the actual complexities of things like the trinity. When people run into Christians that don’t know why they believe certain things, it reaffirms to them their preconceived notions about our faith. “Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for the reason for the hope that is in you.” 1 Peter 3:15
