Shout out to all the PCA AND CNA. I have nothing but RESPECT to all of you. To all clinicians, and providers that are focus on patients health and wellness. Hands down to all. Thank you for taking care of patients that are in need of help, love and care. This is not an easy job and requires a lot of patience, compassion and dedication.
Our family became a provider to do good deeds, and serve, most specially the elderly that are vulnerable. Although it is hard, it is also soooooo rewarding. Coming home with a smile on our face knowing we made a difference. This is OUR calling, so be proud and pat yourself on the shoulder.
God Bless.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nevada | Nevada Health Response 05/24/2021

Mental health conditions have worsened nation-wide due to the pandemic and mental health service use rates are among the slowest of services to rebound, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). National data show that from March-October 2020, beneficiaries have forgone millions of primary, preventative, and mental health care visits due to COVID-19.

34% decline in mental health service use by children under 19
22% decline in use by adults 19-64
26 million fewer mental health visits by adults and children
3.6 million fewer uses of substance use disorder services
In response, CMS is providing video resources emphasizing mental health care and calling on providers and community partners to take action to improve use of mental health services and encourage recipients to seek assistance. Nevada providers may consider sharing the following social media posts:

8 Diet Tips to Help Manage an Overactive Bladder

Living with an overactive bladder doesn’t have to hold you back. With the right strategy, which includes knowing which foods and drinks to add or remove from your diet, you can manage your symptoms and enjoy a completely normal, active life. In fact, you may even feel better than before with the added energy boost you get from our healthy (and yummy) recommendations!

Urologists and other experts recommend keeping a bladder diary to track your symptoms and altering your diet with the following tips to help keep you in control and reduce the chances of an accident.

1. Stick with H20
Drinks that are especially acidic, contain caffeine, or are alcoholic are known to exacerbate an overactive bladder, making symptoms worse and causing an increased urge to go. Stick to water as much as possible. If you’re craving a little flavor, try adding a slice of lemon.

2. If you opt for juice, cranberry is best
Some juices, like orange and pineapple, as well as lemonade and anything else high in acid, can irritate the bladder and increase the chances of an accident. Cranberry juice, on the other hand, is a solid choice because it prevents bacteria from adhering to the bladder, which contributes to better overall bladder health.

3. Eat your fruits and veggies
Fresh fruits and vegetables contain many of the vitamins and minerals that are essential for overall good health, and when you’re healthy, your urinary system – including your bladder – will function at its best. Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is also helpful for maintaining a healthy weight, which experts believe is equally important for bladder health

4. Be mindful of dairy consumption
Some people who suffer from an overactive bladder find that their symptoms worsen after they’ve consumed certain dairy products. While this may not be the case for everyone, keeping a bladder diary can help you determine if you are, in fact, one of these individuals. Tracking your diet and subsequent symptoms can also help you pinpoint whether there’s a particular dairy product (versus all of them) that you should avoid.

5. Fill up on whole grains
When your bowels aren’t functioning properly and you feel bloated or are constipated, it can put pressure on your bladder, causing you to have to go to the bathroom more frequently. Foods that are rich in whole grains – such as brown rice and whole grain breads, pastas, and cereals – are also high in fiber, which helps keep your bowels healthy and functioning well, thereby indirectly reducing bladder symptoms.

6. Reduce your sugar intake
Sugar has a tendency to cause increased growth in bacteria within the body, which can lead to infections of the urinary tract and bladder. Unfortunately, substitution isn’t even an option, since artificial sweeteners are believed to be just as bad. If you’re struggling with an overactive bladder and urinary incontinence issues, try cutting out sweets and see if you notice any improvement.

7. Cut back on spices
Foods that are heavily seasoned can trigger an irritation of the bladder, which can lead to an increased urge to go. It’s not fully known why spicy foods bother some people with overactive bladders and not others, but if you happen to be one of these people, the solution is pretty straightforward: Stay away.

8. Pass on that nightcap
Many people with an overactive bladder closely control their fluid intake during the day, but forget to do so as night falls. If you find that your condition has you waking up frequently to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you may want to consider cutting out drinks after a certain time, such as right after dinner.

Dealing with an overactive bladder isn’t always easy, but it doesn’t have to control your life. By identifying which elements of your current diet may be making your condition worse and knowing what you can eat and drink to improve symptoms, you’ll be able to regain control and enjoy life with fewer incidents.

What older adults should know about the COVID-19 vaccine
Older adults are at a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19, so if you're 65 or older, it's especially important for you to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The current authorized and recommended COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective in preventing severe illness from COVID-19.

Visit CDC.gov for tips on how to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Each state has its own plan for how and when residents can get vaccines.
Bring your red, white, and blue Medicare card or Medicare Number when you go to get your vaccine, so your health care provider or pharmacy can bill Medicare. Medicare covers the COVID-19 vaccine, so there's no cost to you.
You might need a second shot 3 or 4 weeks after your first shot, depending on the kind of COVID-19 vaccine you get.
Remember, even after you're fully vaccinated, it's important to keep taking precautions in public places. The CDC has new information about how to protect yourself and others when you've been fully vaccinated.

Quarantine Guidance for Vaccinated Persons

Guidance addresses health care personnel, inpatients/residents who are exposed to COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated the quarantine guidance for those that have been fully vaccinated. Persons who have been fully vaccinated and subsequently exposed to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to quarantine if they meet all of the following criteria:
Are fully vaccinated (i.e. at least two weeks following receipt of the second dose in a two-dose series, or at least two weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine).
Are within three months following receipt of the last dose in the series.
Have remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure.
Persons who do not meet all three of the above criteria should continue to follow current quarantine guidance after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. The current quarantine guidance can be found here.
A technical bulletin from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services about updated quarantine guidance can be found at this link.

SHARING INFORMATION:
City of Las Vegas continues to move forward with programs, funding and new construction to assist those experiencing homelessness. The city has long worked to help the homeless population become healthy, housed and hired and those goals have been helped by the establishment to the Courtyard Homeless Resource Center in August 2017.

The Courtyard is a starting point where homeless individuals can go to access resources all in one place within the Corridor of Hope at 314 Foremaster Lane. Currently, the Courtyard is open seven days a week 24 hours a day. Get help by calling 702-229-6117 or [email protected].

The ultimate plan for the Courtyard is to provide all the services someone experiencing homelessness needs so that they can break the cycle and get off the streets. To that end a $21 million construction project has begun to add new buildings and facilities at the Courtyard. In 2021 the city is scheduled to open this newly enhanced campus. Additional services that will be provided through the new campus include:

Courtyard staff will also continue to assist guests with navigating the social service system and help them connect to the services they need. The Courtyard works hand-in-hand with other services such as the MORE Teams that bring outreach directly to where the homeless population lives.
