History was made in the Silver State on August 16, 2021, when Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard became the eighth president of Nevada State College (NSC).
She is the first permanent Black woman President of the institution.

In 1998, the same year the Bellagio opened its doors, Las Vegas was growing, ushering in a new era on the Strip. The growth meant Las Vegas needed teachers– and lots of them. And so the vision for Nevada’s first four-year teaching institution was created.
