Since the beginning, our Green House homes have protected the rights of our elders by destigmatizing aging and humanizing care through the creation of radically non-institutional environments that empower the lives of the people who live and work in them.

At The Villas at Centennial Hills, our goal has been to create authentic homes where elders live autonomous lives and receive dignified, personalized, and high-quality care.

Since 2003, elders and their families have experienced the Green House difference for themselves – with private rooms, empowered staff, and welcoming communal spaces. Green House eldercare communities look nothing like the traditional nursing facility and provide a true home for residents, improving their quality of life.

In our Green House homes, elders are deeply known as creative, resourceful, and whole people who deserve meaningful lives. Relationships are the cornerstone of this model, where an elder’s natural rhythms and preferences are honored.

Designed to reinforce the identity of elders and eliminate institutional signposts, The Villas at Centennial Hills is equipped with amenities present in a real home.

Inside each home are 12 private bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and shower. The living area is spacious with a fireplace. There is an open kitchen, where all meals are prepared and served at a communal dining table. Dedicated public, private, and support spaces that are small and easily navigable are also present to encourage the sharing of lives and foster community engagement.

In 2001, Dr. Bill Thomas, an international authority on geriatric medicine and elder care, created the first Green House home. It is a home with the ultimate physical environment to establish and maintain a true elder-centered community and combat the three plagues of aging. Like real homes, it has a living room, dining room, den, kitchen, and bedrooms, each with a private bathroom.

The Villas at Centennial Hills believes that supplemental continuing education helps assure the establishment and operation of our Green House homes.

We provide a 120-hour education curriculum to prepare our universal caregivers (Shahbazim), nurses, and clinical support team to work as self-managed units. This gives them the skills and knowledge to support elders’ self-direction, daily life, and tasks in Green House homes.

By delivering outcomes that are superior to traditional models, our Green House homes stand above and beyond others with research and evidence to back it up.

With a vision centered on meaningful relationships, empowerment, and mutual respect, our Green House homes produce better outcomes such as superior quality of life, improved job satisfaction, better staff-to-elder ratios, and higher census rates.

Neither a facility nor an institution, The Villas at Centennial Hills is a REAL home.

Our Green House homes do not have institutional design touches such as harsh fluorescent lighting, long hallways, and nurses' stations, and our administrative offices are maintained separately from the homes.

With our dedicated team, we work closely with each developer’s architects, plus local and state regulatory agencies, to ensure that all designs meet model requirements.

At The Villas at Centennial Hills, we value our workforce’s wellness and satisfaction.

During the pandemic, the Green House reported substantially lower turnover rates: 33.5% for Shahbazim (CNAs), 41.6% for LPNs, and 63.2% for RNs. Those results build on existing research indicating that the Green House’s unique staffing structure results in greater workplace satisfaction and lower levels of stress for frontline caregivers.

At The Villas at Centennial Hills, not only do we empower our residents but also our caregivers.

We have a self-managed work team consisting of universal care partners called Shahbazim (singular: Shahbaz), a certified nursing assistant who cooks meals in the communal open kitchen, performs light housekeeping tasks, and supports meaningful engagement within the home. In direct and continued consultation with the elders, the Shahbazim are also responsible for managing day-to-day life in each home.

With a true home design, each of our Green House homes accommodates 10 to 12 elders who enjoy a spacious living area, an open kitchen, and easy access to secure outdoor spaces.
